Not regular thunderstorms, but thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes do. They terrify me. A large oak tree fell on our house when I was younger from very strong straight line winds. And now I live in Middle TN which has much more severe weather than I'm used to. Plus, I've seen really bad tornado damage up close...it's sobering to see the power they have. I've learned to never, ever, ever, ever take severe storms lightly.Do thunderstorms scare you? Just wondering. You missed your calling......meteorologist.

same 2013 An EF 4 took out 400 homes and businesses in my town -- eerily, none of the churches were hit and this was a Sunday morning and many people were at church, it saved alot of lives --I took the spotter class and got called a couple times already this year -- was very interesting trainingNot regular thunderstorms, but thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes do. My dad and I would stand out in the garage if the wind was right or on the front porch. Never was scared of them. I lived in N. AL from 65 to 77 and was actually in JC Penny's in Huntsville Mall when straight line winds blew the doors in on the outside entrance and toppled paint cans and Christmas trees off of displays. I grew up with them and have never worried about anything but hail. I had 5 vehicles damaged in the great 2010 storms (I think it was 2010) in E TN. Windows in the house, roof, gutters and my Weber grill. Still has a dent in the top.I understand it all to well. When we were younger, anytime a storm blew up, my grandmother would gather us all up and make us lay down beside her. We couldn’t talk until it was over (she’d say “hush children”) Made me deathly afraid of them. Didn’t help when I lived in Louisiana and Mississippi.

I hate seeing people's stuff damaged, and especially injury or death. That said, I'm fascinated by storms, even tornadoes. I wish they could all be out in the open, but sadly that isn't the case. Has anyone seen the show where they try to drive the car/tank into tornadoes? I would literally pay to do that, that's how fascinated I am of them.

@Orangeredblooded I happened to remember that we have family friends that live in Kingston that were in TWO of those tornados on 4/3/74. Two of those storms hit a trailer park where they lived. The husband was working 2nd shift at the same place as my dad and she was working 2nd in town. The first storm hit their trailer and she was trying to get home and the second storm rolled up while she was trying to get to their trailer. She had to hit the ditch for cover. My scout master at the time worked at his dad's radio station in town and had to hit the ditch with her.My dad and I would stand out in the garage if the wind was right or on the front porch.
