The official UT v. LSU game thread

Sitting here at halftime of SDSU-CSU, I'll quote an email I received from an individual who shall remain nameless:"Since Bruce Pearl obviously invented basketball, how good does John Brady have to be to have a winning record against him?" I am so glad I was nowhere near the Georgia Dome or a television during that one.

well if he beats florida 75% of the time, I dont mind him having a losing record to lsu

There are so many positives about our team...we generally play at a fast pace, with great energy and unselfishness....but when teams focus on pounding away at us inside, we have a lot of trouble...we desperately need size next year.

I'm not sure it was so much coaching as it was LSU's length finally exposed our biggest weakness. It's almost like LSU was baiting us into the basket so they could send the ball into row 8.

Another question. Why does our team never, I mean never, shoot 15 to 17 footers?

Few teams do anymore. The art of mid-range basketball has basically been killed by the combination of 3 pointers and dunks.

We will see a lot of those 15-17's from Tatum next season

the funny thing is, i just took a look at the LSU message board and they're talking about how the refs were just trying to hand Tennessee the game :lolabove:

I find it impossible to believe that the officiating was anywhere near as bad as I've seen all day here. Once you get west of the Mississippi, trained chimps would be an improvement over 75% of the officials.

just goes to show you bias can come into play when talking about officiating. but the bottom line is, we didn't take advantage of the opportunities we had. the number of shots we had compared to lsu's is proof of that.

Yeah, I know it's becoming a thing of the past, but that LSU kid hit three in a row from that distance. LSU as a team probably shot from that range 10 times more than UT did tonight.

I just think it makes us an easier team to defend. That leaves a big area that the other team doesn't really have to worry about. I mean at least shoot 4 or 5 a half tio keep them honest.

I hear you. But because of LSU's length it's hard to get any shot inside 15 feet. The best thing to remedy that is the basic pick and roll, but LSU's help D was terrific.

It was crazy the number of times we just drove it into the trees and couldn't get a shot up due to their size.

trained chimps might have called it both ways

what bugged me was are inability to get the ball to Lofton at the end. Ramar didnt even look at him near the end.

Still no idea why with 3-4 seconds to go Ramar gave up the ball rather than get into the lane and try to make something happen.

I missed the entire game (fell asleep) but I can't say that I was surprised when I saw the final score on espn news.

Disappointed for sure...
