The Official Texas A&M @ #1 Tennessee Series Thread (Fri. April 4 7PM EDT ESPNU) (Sat. April 5 Doubleheader SECNET+)

That was a very talented aTm bunch that spanked us. Stinks, but perhaps our approach needed tweaking. Maybe this team was a bit too full of itself and it got their nose bloodied. It's easy to run from the front. Let's see how they respond to some adversity.

When you got young guys mixed in, it can take a minute. How many positions has Curley played this year? Sometimes ya just gotta play it out, we’ll be okay. There were some bright spots this weekend, Franklin showed some stuff. No need to panic, better now than later.

How are all of our fellow Vols fans in West and Middle Tennessee doing tonight? Everyone okay?
Well, daylight nearing on Sunday morning. Rains continue in west Nashville & we had a 10-hour power outage. Last week's flooding compounded by torrents of rain Saturday. Cringe as I ponder what our driveway looks like across Poplar Creek. 🌩️ BaseVols got "rained on" yesterday, too.

Should be about done. It stopped about an hour ago here in Dickson.

Many games left. You’re right TAMU is very talented and we’ll see how it plays out but it’s possible they got their spark this weekend.

Not sure what went on here. Did someone in the family section go off on a player? Know Vitellos dad confronted someone. Same deal or were some of our fans drunk and disappointed?
The double header definitely led to some over consumption. The crowd around us was more similar to a night SEC game in Neyland after a full day of tailgating. Oh, and several people obviously underestimated the afternoon sun exposure.

Of all the programs at UT, THE very last one to criticize is the baseball program. Folks need to check themselves and their unrealistic expectations and remember where we were before Tony V and appreciate what we have. Personally, I never dreamed UT would have a baseball program like this. Never. Witch about hoops and football all you want, but not baseball. This is, by far, the best sports program the university has and it's not really close in my mind.

During my years at UT, we could walk in and sit anywhere we wanted, with maybe a couple hundred people in the stadium. What Tony V, the administration, and the players have transformed the program into is remarkable.

Anybody hear the postgame? Wondering what CTV said
On a summary of what went wrong today

“They played better than us. We happened to play two games in one day and it was not a good day for us and it was a very good day for them. And maybe we spoke that into existence or maybe I spoke that into existence. You get tired of hearing, you know, negative things about a good program. And like I told you guys, good coaching staff and good players. So, they beat us today in pretty much about every facet. Although you could take the time to analyze poor decisions. Maybe a mistake at-bat or this could have been better base running or pitching. But you know, it’s really simple. At the end of the day, they played better than we did.”

On what he hopes the team learned this weekend to carry forward

“Know how to approach a doubleheader. Know how to approach an entire series. Know how to write your own narrative and not listen to, with all due respect, you guys. Hard working group in here, but you guys aren’t in the dugout. You guys aren’t playing. You guys don’t know the rosters as well, nor do the fans. So, you got to write your own narrative. And then the other thing is, we got talent, but we damn sure don’t have – again, we know the rosters, we don’t have the best roster in the country. That’s not even close. But what we’ve had this year is a good group of guys. Defensively, pitching wise, hitting all complement each other a little bit. And we’ve had a little bit of grit to us and we’ve had some other intangibles like team chemistry that have helped elevate our play a little bit. But we can’t show up and rely on what’s on paper.”

I told some folks Friday I was a bit skeptical about the upcoming weekend with A&M , their starting pitching has been pretty good all season and they returned a lot of talent from a championship caliber lineup and you had to figure it’s just a matter of time before they win a series and after they won game 1 Saturday the DH kinda played in their favor , it’s been a minute since we’ve seen our pitchers give up those kind of numbers and it more than likely won’t be our only series loss this season , I’d say a 20-10 SEC record would be really good and keep us in the top 8 nationally , anything better would be great , SEC baseball is elite and anyone can get beat on any given weekend

@darsinewman would be whipping some ass! 😳
I’m not even going to read this game thread because I can imagine some of the comments, but I did have to shut down a guy in my section yesterday afternoon. I’m sorry to report that I did not chastise him respectfully, but sometimes you get back what you’re handing out. Seriously, just go home. It was a not great day for our team, but nobody hates it worse than they do.

Don’t we always lose at least one series the last few years. I remember last year was Alabama. I think the 2022 year we lost the Kentucky series late in the year and people were freaking out.
Honestly, I prefer we take some lumps during the season. You learn that way. Gets you prepared for tournament play which is the goal.

A&M was picked no.1 before the season for a reason. Yesterday, it all came together for them. I’ve got a feeling that the last half of their season is going to look a hellava lot different than the first half.
It all came together for them because they had flashbacks about the NC last year and that’s probably it. Neither team will replicate what happened yesterday, UT had a bad day.

We got dominated , plain and simple. This won't be the last series we lose this year. We need to get humbled. Let's see how many dogs we got on this team, I only see 2 so far.
