The Official Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Game Thread, 7:00pm ET, ESPN2

Even with a solid post presence I don't think it would make a huge difference. Our rotation defensively sucks, we lose too many shooters, we don't run shooters off spots, AND coaches are finding easy spots for long range shots.

Nobody ever would say that. Problem is this zone will never win at a big time level. And the recruiting isn't looking great either with an ncaa cloud hanging over our coach. How many times have we out rebound, out hustled, out played other teams and still lose because of this zone giving us 3 after 3? It is no secret, we are pathetic defending it, and no lead is safe against anyone we play because of it! Plain and simple!

What? Syracuse and Louisville ring a bell?

Question for you...say they lose out, NCAA tells Hart 10 game suspension and 2 years worth of recruiting restrictions....if you're Hart and you know this is your only shot at a no buyout firing, do you explore that idea?

Don't get excited and spill all over yourself. :)

Not directed towards me, but if I could get a promise from the boosters I could get legitimate money to make a hire...yes.

You may be right, but Syracuse would argue differently about winning big time with the zone.

Yes, he obviously needs to make adjustments on the perimeter D. All I'm saying is give the guy a chance to have a complete season under his belt before we start making definitive statements on whether he can get it done here or not.

You know what I meant. He's fine with giving up threes, yes teams make shots but to say it's tyndalls fault contested threes went in and our shots wouldn't is blasphemy

Who's fault is it we don't have better shooters? Who's fault is it out shooters haven't improved? Who's fault is it we are the worst 3 point defense in the league?

We have talked all season, allowing teams to shoot very well from 3 is a trend for this team, allowing that trend to continue is on the coach, he's gotta make adjustments.

Ask me in a few days after this game......I'm ready to fire him tonight.....good reason I wasn't made an AD

No it doesn't, is the coach playing? In a close game situation I'll give you that or if somebody goes off and you don't cover him by extending the zone ok,but when you have a hand in your face and you still knock down the shot no way is that Tyndalls fault.

the sad part is , you really believe what your trying to say. I bet when Tn wins you say it was his coaching but when they lose its not his coaching.

I have always loved UT basketball and have been going to games since the Ernie and Bernie days. However, after the Bruce Pearl fiasco I realized this current Administration does not give a rats azz about basketball because if they REALLY wanted a competitive program they would have hired Pearl back or gone out and spent enough money to get a top notch basketball coach. Therefore, I no longer purchase season tickets and probably never will again until we our AD shows he is serious about having a competitive basketball program once again.

Not questioning anyone's fandom, just stating my feelings. I can't go back to Ernie and Bernie but I do remember the Allen Houston teams and hope we never fall that far again. I do agree with the seeming lack of support on the bball side though. Been that way for as long as I can remember (except CBP era)

Anyone can answer, thanks for the input...

I agree with you, probably talk with boosters and back channels on who you maybe could land

So you don't think they could extend the zone if they had post players who could hold their own on D and defend the rim if the perimeter players drive into the paint?

How has Syracuse done so well with a similar zone all these years?

Well who would we have had if we had the same team we had last year minus the seniors and stokes. ? Oh yeah nobody else.and a coach can only do so much it's up to the player to improve not the coach. Been told that my whole life.

Post of the day.

After Syracuse and recently Louisville, who else is a consistent top 25 program that exclusively plays zone ?

Let's take Michigan, a team I follow. Beilein always used a 1-3-1 at WVU (right before the Big East became a juggernaut) and when he first came to Michigan he used it exclusively. They were getting torched. He decided to go to man and it has worked out and has stuck with it.

Tyndall might have to do that.
