The Official Tennessee vs. Utah State Game Thread, 7:00pm ET(08/31/14), SEC Network

I never thought I would say Jancek looks like the better coordinator.

I saw that he was in the middle of last season. I am trying to hold back my displeasure with Jake. Maybe Butch laid out the game plan he was to follow. But again this season - no slant passes to a WR or slot. Lane is not running the ball. I know they are trying to get Hurd ready, but establish the run with your experienced senior first.

To posters that think Worley is to run the zone read every play. He's not. That is the play design for the RB to run the ball. You don't want your one experienced senior QB running the ball often.

Offensively I don't understand why we are throwing the ball so much. No reason why we shouldn't be able to line up and run it down their throats. And when we do pass, why have we stopped throwing to our tight ends?

Did you watch the same half I did? Our offensive line isn't getting any push whatsoever.

You're kidding yourself on one part of the equation. Bajakian is terrible. No rhyme or reason to what he is doing.

Hes called one bad series so far. if we catch the damn ball and execute the perfectly timed wr reverse pass were rolling right now. utah st has held better teams than our to very low rushing totals so the wrs have to carry the load and they arent helpin worley oit a bit so far.

I think they are forcing carries to Hurd. Let's see Lane get more touches in the second half.

Worley actually has time to throw the ball. We saw on the PI call that Pearson can force matchup problems for Utah State's secondary. I would get Pearson in single coverage and try and get him the ball deep down the field.

Also, where are the slants over the middle?

Oh, don't you EVEN, Lawrence. I know your game. Our offense can't do anything. We're going to lose this.

Or maybe not.

Or maybe. We'll see.

Very impressed with the defense so far.

NOT impressed with Keeton.

Also, as far as the UT offense is concerned, more Lane and less Hurd. Unless Lane is hurt he should get the lion's share of carries.

USU isn't hitting double digits tonight.

Don't forget this is the first game of a long season. Bajakian could be using a very limited playbook for these first 2 weeks. May no want to be showing all the looks, wrinkles, and plays against teams that we are supposed to beat. Use vanilla plays. No reason to go out and show everything off in the first game of the year.

We scored 17 in one half. That's not bad by any standard.

I agree. I am personally frustrated with the offense. Hopefully in the second half they get better. This is par for the course with me though. I experience worse first game jitters than some of the players do :)

Offense. Every run outside of pigs TD sweep has been right up the middle for not much. No off tackle or other sweeps. Worleys throws have been quite.... Off.

We've mainly ran inside zone yes. But a lot of those have went for 4-6 yards because of Hurd pushing the pile. We can throw bubble and quick screens outside you don't have to run the ball outside. If you're a spread team, you need to run well between the tackles to put the d in a bind.

Need some sacks. The D is doing great, they are getting Keeton on the ground, they are banging up the USU O. The USU D is getting banged up as well. The USU D looked gassed in the first quarter. I think UT will finally pull away but the offense needs to start gelling better.

No, we should be up 35-0 by now, having lived on their side of the field due to the defense. Bajakian's play calling is dumbfounding and crippling us. One play isn't keeping us from a significantly larger margin than it should be. This isn't anything new with Bajakian, either. He's just not a good OC.

I know Worley is the starter and we're not going to pull him but with our oline I'd like to see peterman get some reps. He's supposedly more mobile than Worley and I wonder if he could make some plays with his feet when the pocket breaks down.
