The Official Tennessee vs. Texas Southern Game Thread, 7:00pm ET, FSN

The attendance was terrible. You'd think after The coach that the majority of the fan base wanted left. That people would come out for the first game for the new coach ... Guess not.

They took their ball and went home because they didn't get their Brooce back.

Going to be a classic... made me think of these guys.

Thats funny

What happened to the uptempo fun offense we were gonna be running? That first 15 minutes was a mirror image of the Cuonzo era, dribbling around and lazy passes for 25-30 seconds.

At least the first got us to a sweet 16, hopefully Tyndall can suck that bad, I've got my doubts he even makes it that long though.

I don't care if CDT does bring us a sweet sixteen this yr....that's not my goal....my goal is to finally get a coach that can compete with big boys year in and yr out.

I agree. Recruiting will have to pick up to do that...

This. I think the only "big boys" we ever beat were Florida and Kentucky. Sure we beat Virginia, Wichita State and went nose-to-nose with countless others, but no, you're right. Cuonzo couldn't compete with the "big boys". /sarcasm

Might be early but I'm seeing nothing to suggest he can in recruiting or on the court

And that's fine.....we move onto the next coach until we hire the right one....I Want to finally find the coach that makes people look at us like they do duke, Michigan state, and others.....when that coach retires from here then we have people wanting this job.

That's not competing with the big boys.....we never beat anyone of note on the road......I mean a consistently good program that makes the tourney consistently with a legit chance to make a final four. I also expect them to compete with and recruit the top talent. At least consistent top 25 classes.

I mean h*ll even Wade Houston beat a much better Kentucky team and a Shaq led LSU team.

We had a coach like that in Pearl and lost him, we had a coach who was clearly trending up and showed he was a Sweet 16 caliber coach and let him go...you think hiring mid major fling after mid major fling is a good idea? Lol

Of course he was trending up.
We did hire a mid major and so far he's built us a mid major team in the mold of an SM team.
We've struggled with every team we've played so far including the D2s.

The only way he got the team motivated for the run was by making it an "us against the school and fans" mentality. That's not sustainable.

I think it's interesting the two schools you mentioned, both were young, fairly inexperienced head coaches when they were hired and it took them both 3 and 4 years to get to the tourney.

Coach K had two losing seasons in his first 3 years.

Pearl and Tyndall were well traveled compared to them and much more "known commodities".

Think the players made it that. He was telling them to ignore it all.

Regardless the team played pretty uninspired until there was outside motivation.
Tyndall said after the TS game his players were sluggish.
Also said they wouldn't have won without the crowd support.
do we need a petition to fire the team up. How are we going to win road games?

How was we trending up? We were definitely losing McRae and Maymon .......plus possibly stokes with no bench and a 50 ranked recruiting class coming in.
