There has been some speculation that due to the difficult nature of this season--on a lot of fronts--that Martin might look to leave for another job if he could get involved somewhere. We do not think that was just idle talk, however, given the way things have worked out to this point, it seems like it's going to be difficult for Martin to walk away from the payday that looks to be headed his way.

Martin has taken the high road all season long, not mentioning the fan criticism or the awkwardness that a highly-publicized petition calling for the re-hiring of Bruce Pearl caused in his program.

The fact that it's made recruiting difficult is an understatement. As we noted on the board today the petition was certainly something that Peyton Allen's family was aware of, and certainly didn't help Tennessee as he chose Texas A&M after officially visiting Knoxville. The lack of an extension combined with the fan unrest was also a factor in losing 2015 commit Camron Justice.

Hmm..so our fans almost ran cuonzo off. Solid.

Put the Volunteers in the Elite Eight for just the second time in school history (lost to Michigan State in 2010).

Give Cuonzo Martin a 4-0 head coaching record in NCAA Tournament games.

Give the Vols at least 25 wins for just the fourth time in school history.

Make the Vols 8-1 this March.

Good to see another Anchorage Vol Fan!!! Go UT!

Win or lose I'm so proud of our guys, and one of my favorite vols teams to take the court later tonight. They're playing with so much heart and intensity, and I don't think Michigan will be able to stop us. We can beat anybody if we play up to our potential.. It's 3:40 am and I'm still up thinking about this game.. Let's go Vols. Let's show everyone what we're made of and get some payback from a few years ago!! It's us against the world... I'm tired of all this Stauskas talk! We can do this!! GBO!!

The pressure is on Michigan and it will only grow larger if they fall behind. Let's look at the reasons why. Michigan is a #2 seed playing a #11 seed. Tennessee is not only an 11 seed but a team Michigan beat in the tournament by 30 points three years ago. They won't beat this team by 30 points. They are the Big Ten champions. They can't lose to fourth place team from the lowly SEC. The Big Blue has had a cakewalk in their first two games. How do they respond if they are actually contested? What is it they say? Live by the 3 and die by the 3. They are playing in a huge domed football stadium which gives a totally different background perspective. I know this has an effect by watching teams come into the ETSU minidome, an original domed football stadium, and having trouble with their shooting. Lucas Oil Stadium is the ETSU minidome on steroids. If their 3's don't fall especially with Richardson and McRae guarding two of their top three, the pressure could be excruciating. Tennessee is built for the last ten minutes and wearing teams down in at that time just like the football team. If Tennessee is leading in the toward the end of the game, the pressure cooker bursts!

I have not had the chance to scout Michigan. Do we have any advantageous as far as match ups go? We were a nightmare to Mercer with match ups. TIA

It's March 28th and we are still playing basketball! Wow that just feels weird. I'm so nervous for tonight I can't imagine how our players feel. Win or lose I'm proud of our Vols and our coaches this season. They made up for their up and down regular season.

Hopefully Stokes vs. their bigs will be an advantage. :crossfingers:

Walton is pretty quick so I think Barton will have his hands full there. But I like the matchups between McRae vs. Levert and J Rich vs. Stauskas.

Should be a great game win or lose. Just win Baba!!!

GBO

Pretty well actually. They have the better bench and 3 really good wings. We have the advantage down low though.

Even though he has been a beast in the Tourney, I think we will see less of Maymon tonight and more of Moore and Reese because Jeronne will have probably trouble staying in front of GRIII. Thats a rough match-up for most any 4, but especially Jeronne.
