This is a great post and you are spot on in the second paragraph. Couldn't have said it better myself. Kids aren't used to tough love these days. They've been coddled and told how great they are throughout high school, AAU, and recruitment. Some even earlier than that. Tough love isn't a bad thing. Holding them accountable isn't a bad thing. Expecting them to do things the right way isn't a bad thing. Rick Barnes seems to have gotten them to buy in and I don't know how you can't feel good about the program right now.
Well said, but according to Bruin some need to be coddled.
Take your pick:
1) a coach that's entire team plays hard every game
2) a coach that's entire team plays nearly every game hard all year
3) a coach thats entire team plays hard on occasion
4) a coach that's entire team plays hard rarely
IMO the only choices acceptable are 1 and 2. We haven't seen that this year at all
Not sure what you are trying to say. The team has played very hard all year, and with the talent and size should probably have won about 2-3 SEC games tbh. The team has overachieved, and has done so with their extremely intense and hard-working style of play
I disagree. Sure, some players were somewhat inconsistent with effort (Hubbs, Mostella) but as a team each game with exception of a few games was played with good effort.
CRB designed a D that out-schemed Stallings. QUOTE]
Don't take this the wrong way because I was excited the first day we hired CRB, and I am excited about the future of our program today.
That being said CRB didn't exactly re-invent the wheel and out scheme vandy. We played straight man, switched all screens, and fronted the post. Pretty common even at the middle and high school level.
We won yesterday because Vandy thought they would walk through us like they did the first two times. We came out and took it to them and got just enough separation to survive.
Regardless of who, what when, where, or why it was a W that send the Nashville nerds packing.
Wouldn't you consider hubbs, Mostella, and Reese a big part of the team?
I would especially after yesterday. Their effort has been questioned all year
I never thought Reese's effort was a problem, not that it really matters. But as it relates to Barnes I think Mostella has grown a lot the past few weeks, and we should expect more consistency with him next year. With Hubbs, idk what's wrong and Barnes may play a part in that but overall Barnes gets at worst a passing grade as far as team effort goes this year IMO
No. Young folks be resilient.
