Without Hornsby's range the door has been left slightly ajar. It will quite the feat if Moore was to kick it in again three days in a row.

Nothing is impossible, but I think our tanks are on empty. Would love to see this season continue to go though!

Tip Off is "set" for 3:30 rather than 3:00. Vol Radio Network goes live at 3:00.

Yesterday the start was pushed back to 3:44. It's all dependent upon the final buzzer of the 1:00 game.

CRB designed a D that out-schemed Stallings. They had just enough juice in the tank to withstand Vandy getting hot from 3 point land at the end. That was the only way Vandy could win yesterday because our D was so energetic as well as stifling inside. So we know what needs to happen today. Stop Simmons the same way and push the D out on the 3 point shooters. It will take high energy again as well as better shooting outside by our guys. Possible - absolutely. Likely - third game in three days. Will see. But they already know they can beat LSU and I like our chances with CRB against Jones.

So let's lay to rest any rancor about CRB as a coach. He's been calling the TO's at the right times that Bruin castigated him for earlier in the season. He has been lighting up the officials the right way at times. His subbing has been spot on. Might he have known that he had to build the team identity and let them play through issues earlier in the season to observe their tendencies and teach them how to adjust on the court on their own? That's tough love toward the roster and the right way to do it at times. It seems the leaders of the team are playing within his system and scheme while leaving everything out on the floor, with the young guns doing likewise at the end of the season. Could it be that is exactly what CRB was after? Rome was not build in a day.

Call him Papaw all day - that is a title of honor - and I am sure he would love it. I know because I am one to my young grandson. So add me in with him.

Just like Vandy was to open the game yesterday, LSU may come out flat today being their first game. Tennessee has played 2 games in that gym now, and has a feel for it. Perhaps that counteracts the fatigue factor and allows them to jump out to another early lead, and they can hold on down the stretch.

Just imagine if we had Punter right now...we could possibly win the whole thing with him the way we are playing. I like our chances with LSU. Today will be the first time they have played in this tourney, so I'm sure they will start slow. Our guys have to come out strong like the previous two games and have LSU play from behind all game. Simmons will get his, we just have to shut down everyone else. Really proud of this team, I thought they shut down and mailed it in when Punter got hurt, but Moore is leading this team and they're rallying around him! GBO

This is a great post and you are spot on in the second paragraph. Couldn't have said it better myself. Kids aren't used to tough love these days. They've been coddled and told how great they are throughout high school, AAU, and recruitment. Some even earlier than that. Tough love isn't a bad thing. Holding them accountable isn't a bad thing. Expecting them to do things the right way isn't a bad thing. Rick Barnes seems to have gotten them to buy in and I don't know how you can't feel good about the program right now.

We can only hope the LSU that played UK 6 days ago shows up. They looked completely uninterested and Simmons looked like he just wanted to go to train for the NBA draft.

Win, lose, or draw, this team has already overachieved in the tourney. Come out and play loose again and hope their legs stay with them. Barnes will have to dip into the bench if we're going to pull this one out. Let's hope bad Johnny Jones shows up again.

There is only one good Johnnie Jones..And their guy spells it the wrong way :)

Beating Vandy started out NC run. You are kidding yourself if you don't think our guys are talented enough. You are also kidding yourself if you don't think out coach is good enough. This crew is peaking at the right time, that's good coaching. A bounce here and there, there are no limits.

Jump higher Vols.

Minutes played through two games:

Alexander: 8 and 0
Kasongo: 9 and 0
Schofield: 18 and 29
Phillips: 25 and 9

The young guys (FR and SO) haven't been putting in extreme minutes and the upper classmen should be conditioned well enough to play hard for another 40 minutes today. If they play well early I doubt that fatigue will be a major factor. If they go into a funk and are frustrated early things could quickly go south.

I wonder what the thought process was with limiting Alexander's minutes to zero and Phillips' to 9? Maybe CRB knew that there was very little margin for error (turnovers and defensive breakdowns) against Vandy and adjusted the minutes accordingly. Alexander at zero, being the tallest Vol, versus a pair of 7 footers on the floor at the same time was unusual... I hope that it was nothing more than a creative game plan by going small versus a very large opponent.

After not winning the SEC tournament since the 70's, this year, the most unlikely of years, probably will be when we finally get it done. lol.

Seriously though. We have beaten all the teams we are likely to face in a run through the quarter (LSU), semi (UF) and championship (UK or SC).

Semi would probably be Texas A&M imo. I could see UF pulling that one out though.
