The Official Tennessee vs. #3 Georgia Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN

Started strong. Had good fight coming out the gate and thats a great sign.
Glad to see Mauer get a few TDs and some experience tonight.
We just played probably Smarts best UGA team and we were up midway through second qtr.

It's obvious we are a parts bin team. Got great players and some that just dont have the athleticism
Hard to keep up the fight when you lack the horses or experience at the anchor positions on both sides of the ball.

Maurer started out well but did nothing after the second half. JG when he was in was on part with Maurer. He has promise but hasn't been able to put together a game yet. The jury is still out on him, pretending he is the answer is a little silly at this point considering the roster wide challenges we have but your are correct, we cold be surprised, anything is possible.

By the way I've been impressed with the poise Maurer showed until the strip sack six. He got upset but I'm going to chalk that up to being completive, hope he learns from both those situations.

He did not do well in the 2nd half because we could not run the football. They just pinned their ears back and came after him. He never saw the guy who hit him and caused the fumble. I think we gave up on the run when we fell behind in an attempt to score faster.

Nope. He had an opportunity to put 7 on the board but threw it 4 foot to high but got bailed out with an interference call and still came up with 0. Maurer did nothing in the second half because the O line did nothing, no run game at all and Georgia turned up the pressure and I didn’t see many plays where the receivers got open. But yep, the jury is still out on him but he for sure looks better than the Jr. with experience

We are starting now many freshmen? Never in the history of the SEC has a team done that and won. blame whatever, but it’s a fact. You can’t win until we grow. Go peak at our 2015 class and see if you can pick out 8 names you even know.

Tennessee will probably never cover a spread as long as this idiot is coaching. He's the absolute worst excuse of a joke in the history of all of college football. We're never competitive against anybody.

There's hope, I could guarantee their covering simply by betting they wouldn't ;)

Uh Bama won a championship with 6 freshmen on the field. Freshmen Fromm led Georgia there then freshmen Trevor destroyed Bama the next year. This isn't 1950 anymore. Bama is starting like 5 or 6 true freshmen on defense now, mainly due to injuries but still destroying people. Recruit the top kids and be a great coach and it's amazing how good they can be early even with the bumps along the way.

I thought Maurer looked really good the first half like everyone else. Georgia also had pretty much zero film on him and adjusted after the half and shut him down so time will tell if he's going to be good but I think he does have potential. Depth is our killer right now plus coaching is average at best. I stated it before that I never thought Chaney was good and still believe that. To predictable and vanishes at times. There's a reason Georgia fans weren't sad to see him go

We had a fearless, cool, calm, confident, Freshman quarterback play the #3 ranked team in the country, and look damn good in his first college start. He was quick and decisive, and threw some absolutely beautiful passes. No QB’s play is ever perfect, but he made few mistakes, and his play lifted the whole team. The final score may stink, but looks like we got a great QB! Looking forward to Brian Maurer’s future as our QB! GO VOLS!!!

I was at the game and watched not only the plays but the players and witnessed what fans we had there! It sucks to lose but I have a much better opinion of the team and coaches. The team never quit even on Georgia's last touchdown. Plain and simple they are young and just ran out of gas shortly before the half. The biggest concern I got from this game was the defensive line, no pressure! The offensive line played average considering we were playing the 3rd best team in the nation. Just not enough depth coupled with youth that are improving every game! I believe in this coaching staff just need depth!

It’s kinda different when the players on the field are NFL players the next year that are playing with them freshmen, as opposed to playing with mid-major average talent!

Honestly the main reason BM was not as effective in the second half was the oline played poorly. The oline played well in the first half.
We surprised them with our passing at first, but like any good defense they adjusted and because our running game was not a threat they had the advantage the rest of the game

Fromm is a game manager. He looked good tonight but they were nuts to let fields go

I am just totally amazed at how many hc can't seem to evaluate qb talent, Fields at Ga a good example. And Maurer here, season half over fore coach can see he is our best option, and may not even see it now; depending on who starts against Miss. st.

I agree with you concerning the view about many Vol fans have concerning freshman players. I watch us get our donkeys kicked all over the field the last ten years by teams playing their freshman in numbers. Freshman QBs, corners, WRs, LBs, OLs, on and on it goes.
