The Official Tennessee vs. #1 Kentucky Game Thread, 7:00pm ET, ESPN

I really enjoyed this basketball game, the outcome not so much. The men put everything on the line tonight and played great basketball. The bottom line was however, the superior team won. Still you have to appreciate the grit of Donnie's team. Great game!

UTK has nothing to hang their heads about. They fought very well, doing the things they needed to do to give their best shot. With time, CDT will get some talent on the bench, and people will be asking "Bruce who?"

I loved how Kentucky fans were complaining about "home cooking" with the refs. Pot, meet kettle...

It's always like that. Me and a buddy went up there to CoRUPPt Arena when they had Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. The fouls were 10 on Tennessee to 2 and they were cussing saying the refs were keeping us in the game. Me and my buddy were like seriously people you are in double bonus and we can't get in half court defense without the whistle being blown on us.

I had KY fans texting me during the game asking me if we were paying the refs when the foul count was 9-4 in their favor...

Refs did not affect the outcome. There were plenty of calls that went both ways that left me scratching my head.

But you know what? Bad calls happen for both sides. Refs- especially Doug Shows- suck.

The Booker call was because he had stepped out previously and hadn't re established himself inbounds before touching the ball, I thought the same on the Carmichael call as soon as I saw it tho

Yes there are always bad calls that go both ways. UK always has a large majority go on their favor. That said, it had no effect on the outcome last night.

free throw attempts were 21-10 for KY. TN would have lost regardless but the officiating was the usual cluster*****. we shot 40% from the free throw line and a whopping 12% (2-17) from 3. we deserved to lose. we aren't a good team. we have no shooters just a bunch of guys that battle hard and wear out toward the end of the games. we scored 17 pts in the whole 2nd half. tough to win games like that.

Ask Memphis fans if they'd take him back.

Are you seriously comparing a guy who's been to multiple FFs and won a championship to Martin?

Yes as a coach. Not as a recruiter. CBP used to out coach Cal all the time. Cal is a great at recruiting, but not the best coach, even Martin could win with the team he has assembled at UK.

Agreed. Yes indeed these guys played with heart as usual. Glad I could be there to witness even though we lost.

JRich straight up hit Ulis in the face. At the very least a common offensive foul. Nothing got called. Some really awful ones in the game both ways.

Pearl at UT went 3-6 against Cal at UM/UK combined. Not exactly outcoaching "all the time."

If they want to call the game tight (like they are trying to do) the hand checking has to stop. I can't tell you how many times this year I have seen Richardson bumped, checked, touched bringing the ball up the court. It happened again last night, and Richardson even deliberately swatted the hand away. It's the NBA that allows one hand, not college.
