The Official Tennessee vs. #1 Georgia Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, CBS

No moral victory, not even close. Vols had their chances, and I still don’t agree with not kicking the FG when they had the ball deep in GA territory in 2nd half.
*Evans and Payton were sorely missed. No burner WRs or horses to take their place. Surely this will be an emphasis in the portal and recruiting
*I’d rather have Evans healthy and pray Payton is not seriously injured
*Team didn’t quit. They have completed a gauntlet of nationally-ranked teams and held their own against all of them, winning one. We all know they should’ve won the OM game. This is a different mindset than what we’ve seen the past 4-5 years.
*This team has a real good shot at finishing 7-5 in regular season, and nobody saw that coming- not with the investigation, all the transfers and first- year staff. I think CJH deserves consideration for SEC COY.
*My recruiting concern is somewhat tempered by the improvement of the players we have and the appeal this offense should have to offensive players, as well as the reputation of Coach Garner and Coach Banks with defensive players. Just some depth at LB and skill positions would help a ton. I believe the players sell the program, as well, which is a change from what the gump did.

On to South Bammer and I’ll see you in Knoxville for the Vandy game. GB🍊
Definitely no moral victories tonight. We got our butts handed to us.
GBO!!

To Banks credit, he has to be tired because he can't come off the field. Just just needs to get much stronger. You wonder how serious he is in the weight room. If you play for UT, a game like this should piss you off if the other bad defensive performances haven't. I would be in the training room every day in the offseason working on my diet and strength and fitness training.

I think he is really worn out. He has lost a step and a little intensity since game 1. Obviously, tonight the competition is good but he is off. Maybe its just his lack of technique or just physically worn out. Not sure but hopefully he can figure it out soon.

They don't have time to dwell but if you think successful athletes at any level don't care then you never played sports.

I played but not college ball. Also, I’m referring to the average student. They rather do something else than watch the last 10 min of a game down 28 to a rival, esp w UGA fans barking @ them. It happens at every stadium. Me personally, I stayed until the last second when I was a student, even the game when FL was up 35- 0 (something like that) in the rain yrs ago.

We don't need LB depth. We need LB starters. A few more pass rushers because our DL is good but a little on the slow side. Just normal numbers in recruiting in general to help with the transfer portal losses.

and probably more mature
Fact!! I love UT but I got over a loss quickly as a student than I did after graduating. Maybe I took it for granted to attend games since I was on campus? But I recall losses to FL or Bama staying w me all week (after college), esp the 2001 SEC title game vs LSU.

Do you want to go into the I formation with 5’8 185 lb RBs? Credit to Jabari Small for how hard he’s played but he’s not a #1 every down SEC RB. And certainly not short yardage.
I'm talking about a specific play, not every play. The obvious play to run in that situation is a QB sneak with the QB under center. To instead line the QB up five yards behind the line to give the defense that much more time to plug any and all holes is just dumb.

So about all those "WGWTA" posts? Or guys like @Nationdom talkin about winning by 3 TDs .. Heupel has done well this year but when you have that big of a gap in talent, and a depth issue against most every team, it will show. I saw stuff about UTs top 3 WRs being better than UGAs and Hooker being better than any QB UGA has, and the "who have they played" thing and on and on.
GTFO, you lost?

It's not like anyone doesn't know about the talent gag between the teams. Talent wins out. Enjoy your team, the win and season, but take your a$$ back to the trailer park.

Heupel better get some recruits, losing top talent in the state to rivals consistently...
If he cant get the players, doesnt matter what his offense is

He was too chicken **** to post all night now he wants to feel like a king. Ga is the worst number one ranked ever. Ga will never be more than they are now and if everything stays the same. Tennessee is still more relevant on the NC stage.

When you don't take the points, you start chasing points, which leads to forced fourth down attempts to climb back into the game.

You never pass up points. Never. And the last two coaches we've had have done so regularly.
and everybody raised heck with Butch fir taking the points and not having the courage to go for it. I would have gone for the points too but there’s an argument on both sides.

You really believe they are the worst number 1 ever? Overreact much?

Wow, you better drop him a line and let him know. It may not have occurred to him that it would be easier to win with a full roster of players whose skill levels are closer to those of the teams we are losing to. Bet he would appreciate that and other pearls of wisd om you might have. Heck you might just go back through this thread and gather up others insightful thoughts to make it more efficient. Might suggest he get a few defensive guys too.
