I also mentioned his completion percentage for the year. I used the stats from the nebraska games to illustrate what he did against the best pass defense he faced all year.

A number of things.

He played for Washington who is never good.

Not only did he get a new coaching staff but the head coach was a former coordinator.

So between playing for a bad school, switching coaching staffs and playing for a first time head coach... give the guy a chance.

If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. Tom Brady was sitting behind freaking Drew Henson. Drew Henson got drafted in the 1st round didn't he? Brady the 7th? Henson did nothing. Brady is one of the best ever. Both Michigan and NFL scouts thought Henson was better than Brady.

It's whatever. Do as you please...

Those two games drop his completion rate by 4%. Hopefully the Titans won't be as outmatched against anyone as UW was against Nebraska (apparently... I didn't watch either game).

He played for a QB guru for two years. Why did he regress in his senior season in his second year under said QB guru? Didn't lose any WR talent.

They beat Nebraska once in spite of Locker.

Did he make the WR's good or vice versa?

What about teams stacking the box against a crappy run game?

What about having a crappy o-line period?

Who cares how good your wide receivers are if you don't have protection. I recall seeing Locker scramble a lot. I'm guessing that wasn't by choice.

Again... you're just not willing to wait. NFL coaches > college coaches. NFL talent > college talent. Believe it or not, some guys fare better in the pros than college. I'm not going to say it's the norm but look at it this way... Chris Leak, Jamarcus Russell, Matt Flynn, Troy Smith, Ryan Leaf etc. They put up big numbers and won in college, right? Nice NFL careers they've had... Give the guy a chance. If you think you know more than NFL scouts and coaches, go apply. Hell of a salary you'll be making. Far more than you make posting on VN.

Titans sigs recently made on another board:

I kind of laughed at this one:

Tom Brady was nothing short of money nearly every time he was on the field for Michigan. The reason he got drafted late is because he was built like a rail coming out of college and was painfully slow. The fact that he was a winner was overlooked because of the measurables. The opposite is going on with Locker here.

I still recall him being benched off and on for Henson.

Regardless, the Titans weren't the only team that thought highly of Locker. Analysts made it pretty clear that's who the Vikings wanted and settled for Ponder.

Moon, Flutie, Young(Steve) weren't high on NFL lists. Then you have guys like Joey Harrington who were.

I'm not saying Locker will be good. Odds don't favor him. I'm just saying, it happens. Being great in college can equate to nothing in the NFL. And vice versa.

It's not like I'm saying "Locker is a lock to be awesome". Mailman is 99% sure that he will be a dud. That's all I'm arguing. You don't need to hop on his bandwagon. :p

Henson got drafted in the 6th round.

Injury affected his senior year. Leading up to the draft he worked for, and continues to work with former Jets QB Ken O'Brien, and according to new offensive coordinator Chris Palmer his accuracy increased noticeably. No matter how you feel about it, the Titans got who they wanted. Warren Moon has known Jake for 5 years, and gave his ringing endorsement.

Overall I'm pretty excited, he has been my guy for awhile now. I fully believe he'll develop into a good quarterback for us in the future. The Locker vs Gabbert rivalry will be fun to watch because these two guys will be forever linked together. Hopefully now we can focus on adding defensive talent in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

As for the veteran quarterback question, I think we'll sign either Matt Hasselbeck or Marc Bulger once free agency starts and let Locker sit for a year or two and learn from him.

If he ends up being as bad as everyone says tho we could start him lose out and get Luck? :D And make sure we have no backups worth a damn through the season so we can lose out. Anyone know if Crompton is still on his team or if Ainge is having a drug problem again.. :))) I joke I joke lol.

Even though I loathe the EOO, I think this is a very good (albeit surprising) pick for them if they bring in a veteran to run the thing for a year or two and let Locker learn.

Locker's career completion % = .539 (after freshman year = .566). Have fun with that.

What did Chris Berman say about Brett Favre's completion % at Southern Miss?

Jon Gruden also pointed out how many times Locker was throwing the ball away instead of forcing an interception.

He was also missing open players. He was awful against BYU last year. Washington had no business losing that game.

Brett Favre is the exception to the rule. Completion % is the most predictive stat for NFL success, but there are exceptions.

I think the Colts are going to lose a big chunk of their fan base

Yeah, I find people all the time here in Utah that are Colts fans because of Peyton and they have no ties to Tennessee. I moved here from Oak Ridge when I was 15 (just before the Oilers moved) when Peyton was going into senior year. When he got drafted I didn't really have an NFL team so I took the Colts.

Understandable. I lived in Nashville when they came, so that probably helped me more so become a fan. I never had an NFL team either. I guess I sorta cheered for the Falcons because they were closest. I follow the Chargers out here, but my allegiance still lies with the Titans.
