The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

The 49ers have already said he's gone. He'll either be traded or cut. Those type of guys don't cost much.

The monetary cost won't be cheap however, as he is due 27 million. We could afford that, but we'd probably just re-structure the contract instead.
A trade is unlikely. He's going to be released.

He won't be cheap as a FA either.

What sort of market would exist for Aiyuk in free agency if he is released?:

Somewhere on the top shelf of available free agent receivers. Dallas' George Pickens is considered the top option, but Dallas could take him off the market with the franchise tag. Aiyuk would most likely be in the class with Indianapolis' Alec Pierce and Green Bay's Romeo Doubs. His turbulent past two years in San Francisco must be accounted for, but he's only 27 and has a transferable skill -- he's an elite route runner, assuming he becomes healthy enough to still beat corners.

Pierce actually played well last year and showed there's more to him than just being a deep threat. Doubs is tough with good hands. If either's market falters somewhat, I wouldn't mind adding them to the supporting cast (obviously not as good as Pickens, but hopefully cheaper)

A trade is unlikely only because of the contract, but again, the contract could be restructured for any team that might think he's worth a shot. The Niners shouldn't expect to receive anything more than a conditional pick 7th round pick that could move up a round or 2 depending on production.

Should he be released instead, it's unlikely he is going to command a huge contract. Despite his age, he has a lot of baggage related to attitude and a very significant injury, both of which have led him to miss most of the last 2 seasons.

IMO, he'll have to settle for a short deal with a high AAV but low guaranteed money.

I’m loving the staff we’ve assembled, but our main problem remains. The roster is still terrible overall, and it will be very difficult to turn everything around in a year. I just hope the fans can exercise some patience and realize the depths from which this staff is starting. Even if we show marked improvement in year 1 of Saleh, that could still look as meager as 6-8 wins.

I would feel more confident if this were a stronger draft class and free agency had more noteworthy options at our positions of need, but neither of those appear to be working in our favor this year, so it is very difficult for me to see a New England type of turnaround.

100+ million in cap space should help bring in a lot of talent. I think we'll see a massive improvement next year. Hell, even 6-7 wins would be a massive improvement. I think the improvement on the coaching staff alone is worth an extra 2-3 wins. Add some help for Cam on offense, a couple of pass rushers, and some secondary help, I think this could be a 8-9 win team or better depending on whether or not Cam can take a big step up in development.

This one isn't bad either, but the TN emblem in the middle makes the whole thing look a little clunky, imo.
