The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

I’d take that group of WRs over this group any day
ESPN has TN ranked 32nd.

Ranking NFL WR, TE, RB groups for 2025: Best and worst teams:

32. Tennessee Titans
2024 rank: 19 | 2023 rank: 29

Tony Pollard looked better than he did while recovering from a fractured fibula with the Cowboys in 2023, but Tennessee's lead back ranked 20th out of the 23 players with at least 200 carries in success rate. The receiving efficiency he showed in Dallas before the injury didn't come back, either, as he often was reduced to a safety valve. Tyjae Spears had a better success rate, but virtually no explosiveness; just two of Spears' 84 carries went for more than 12 yards. The hope will have to be that an improved offensive line and another year under legendary assistant coach Bill Callahan will unlock the run game.

No. 1 pick Cam Ward's group of receivers are ... well-seasoned. Tyler Lockett, 32, was a cap casualty in Seattle whose numbers were way down during his final year with the Seahawks. He joins to link up with 30-year-old Calvin Ridley, who was better moving around the formation in Tennessee after being trapped on the outside in Jacksonville, but he dropped seven passes and wasn't always the reliable target a struggling group of quarterbacks needed. Van Jefferson, a second-round pick in 2020, might be valued for his blocking and professionalism, but he has averaged 0.7 yards per route run over the past two seasons. This feels like a group where there could be three new starters in 2026.

Rookie fourth-rounder Elic Ayomanor has the upside to push for a starting role and a leg up on a division rival; his best game at Stanford came in 2023, when a fair amount of his 294 receiving yards came past, over and through Colorado cornerback Travis Hunter, who will see Ayomanor twice a year with the Jaguars.

Taking an early look ahead to the 2026 draft and woof.... What a mediocre crop of talent. I know it's early and there will be breakout players, but there really isn't any elite talent right now that you would expect to go number 1. Especially since most people believe that Arch won't come out next season and instead return for his senior season, like his uncles.

No elite Edge rusher or DT. No elite QB prospect. No elite WR prospects or CBs. The only guys worth mentioning are OTs.
We have a CB who will probably go top 10, I'd say that's elite.

He’s not talking about the Vols. He’s talking about the upcoming draft in general. By virtue of there being a draft, someone has to go top ten even if they’re not on the same level as top ten players in other draft classes

I am talking about the overall talent of next year's draft in general.

And McCoy will only go that high if returns early in the season and plays well. If he returns late and/or is a little rusty when he does return, he'll probably still be a 1st rounder, he just won't be top 10.

Meh. The season hasn't even started yet, I'm sure some guys will stand out that we might not have expected.

Maybe but going into a lot of drafts, we are normally more familiar with the projected high end guys. Doesn’t always work out that they go high, but I agree with the overall premise. Outside of Downs, I don’t feel there’s a lot of names in this draft

Yesterday the Titans offered free tickets to July practice dates usually 9-10:30 am. Expect good crowds for that and hope temps are in 80's not 90's.

Klubnik, Nussmeier and Sellers at QB.

Tyson at WR. (ASU)

Downs at S.

Parker at DE, Woods at DT. (both from Clemson)

I'll give you Sellers and Downs, though Sellers needs to build on last year in order to cement himself as a top 5 pick. Downs a legitimate star and I have acknowledged that. But no one else has been super impressive.

I still don’t think of any of those guys (other than Downs) the way I did some of the guys from previous draft classes. The way people knew Caleb Williams, Marvin Harrison, etc.

Doesn’t mean someone won’t break out or one of these guys won’t have an insane season, but for the most part these guys are lesser names. Although scouts may completely disagree

Yup. The 2027 draft already has huge names from last years true freshman class that you can more or less book will be Top 5-10 picks. Jeremiah Smith, Ryan William, DJ Lagway, and Colin Simmons. May be a bit early to say that about Lagway, but the other 3 guys are certifiable studs. Not to mention, Arch Manning probably stays all 4 years and comes out in 2027.

The 2026 draft just doesn't currently have those elite guys.

2023 was a redshirt year for him (meaning 2024 was his redshirt freshman year). If we’re talking hypotheticals, wouldn’t playing all 4 years mean he’d come out for the 2028 draft?

Surely the Titans are gonna inquire about Juaun Jennings right?

He shouldn't cost much in a trade since he is already 28 and his best season was 975 yards and 6 TDs. Deebo only cost the Commanders a 5th rounder a few months ago.

A new contract shouldn't be that steep either. Somewhere around 2 years and 30 million with around 20 million guaranteed.

He is coming off a season where he was his team's best receiver and they traded Deebo because of it, I'm not sure a Jennings trade would be especially cheap. IMO they'll just extend him

Considering how much I like Juaun, I hope he stays away from the Titans. He needs to be playing on a good team.

That's a damning indictment of the franchise but no one can blame you for feeling that way. I miss how I used to feel about the Titans back when we had Eddie George and Steve McNair. I wish we could go back.

I don't feel like I am overly pessimistic about them. I feel like we simply have too many holes, a talent deficit, and nothing proven at QB. Gonna be tough sledding

Well then you're more optimistic than I am and that's great. I am glad you can feel that way. I've just been let down by this franchise at the highest level too many times to get too confident in any sort of turn-around. I hope you're right. It will make keeping up more fun. My mom likes to keep up with them because it gives her a way to connect with us kids and she doesn't like that I can't even fake an interest in the Titans lately. I just could not root for Will Levis. Hopefully Cam Ward is the truth. It would be a nice change.

Really???

7 -10 would be in the hunt for wildcard. You think this roster is that capable?
I disagree with that wildcard sentence, 7-10 was our record in that 2022 Josh Dobbs year and even the 8 seed (who missed the playoffs) was 9-8. Our offensive line could very easily be much better than it's been, just need some linebackers who are actually playable besides Barton.

I also don't think we had the league's worst roster last year, just a deficient one that was also poorly coached

Oh shoot! You're right. I read that as win range and not win loss record. That's on me. My fault.
An improved OLine would be a welcome sight. Our rookie QB needs as much protection as he can get.

We were not good last year. And some of that falls on Callahan. But Levis single handedly cost us 3 games minimum with some of the most boneheaded and just overall worst QB play I've ever seen from any QB.

That makes sense, my wording was unclear. But yeah I meant a team with a losing record but not one of the absolute worst in the league.

Agreed, and it seems like that was a priority for Borgonzi too; beyond the new starters in Zeitler and Moore, we also brought in Hance, Udoh, Mustipher, Jaimes, etc. for depth. Hopefully his eye for talent/fit is a good one, I'm sure we'll find out pretty quickly.

Hang in there brother. My Texans have recently crawled from the abyss. The change starts at the top.
