The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

This is funny considering PFF had at least 4 of those guys drafted rated much much lower than they were picked, heck 3 of the guys the titans picked PFF had as UDFA picks. PFF talking out of both sides of their mouths.

Or perhaps they properly discount what you do in the later rounds (drafting UDFAs for example) and properly assign more value to QBs.

Or you can just keep crying in bold font

Got Restrepo as an UDFA. Pretty big move for Ward.
I really thought Restrepo would have been a mid round pick. Guess his 40 time scared teams off.

He was clocked over 20 mph in games this year, so think he's likely faster than his 40 time suggested. His 3 cone time was above average as well. Either way, he was highly productive at Miami. Seems like a great option in the slot.

And to answer myself: this draft, apparently. Seth McLaughlin was a consensus AA, First-Team All-Big Ten, and Rimington Trophy winner and was an UDFA to the Bengals.

Not many Centers tend to get drafted for some reason. I don't really know why.

The circlejerk of ignorant Titans hate in the recruiting forum thread is so tiresome. Some people in there truly believe the Titans should exist solely to draft Vols.
That is maybe the overall stupidest opinion that exists in this fanbase, regardless of sport. Just an absolute brain dead take. But half this fanbase lives to hate on the Titans like a bunch of babies so I'm not surprised.

Yeah it’s so annoying. Of course I want to see Vols play for the Titans, but at the end of the day, I want them to draft the best players available. once a guy is in the league, I don’t care where he played college ball at. Derrick Henry was a Bammer who embarrassed us once a year, and he’s my favorite player in the league lol

Didnt know I had bold font on and didn’t know how to change it to anything else. But sure, front offices just draft great, I mean the Titans are so exemplary with their drafting that they had the 1st pick this year and I think it was 3 draft classes ago they have literally no one left from it. Cam Ward is not a franchise QB, never will be, but sure let’s spend the 1st pick in the draft on him when they could have had at least 2 firsts and 2 2nds plus a few other picks it was reported. It’s not like they don’t have holes to fill as a team. But you do you, I’m sure they will be just great next year with an OL that makes the Vols look like all-pros and a receiving corps that was one of the worst in the league.

It sucks to see the circlejerk happen of Titans fans that think the front office can do no wrong until they get fired and then act like they hated the front office all along. Everyone was in on JRob because he came from the Patriots and did the patriots way. After that it was Ran who came from San Fran and the San Fran way until he sucked and was fired. Now they kept the old guy who was in place that sucked and just hired the guy from Chiefs as his underling and think, yeah now we are in business. This will happen until 2-3 years down the road and the picks become guys cut from the team before we move on again. The organization should have cut ties from anyone that was in the organization prior and started new. Instead this draft strategy was the same as before with overreaches and projects that most likely won’t work out, but by god these guys just know they will. As far as drafted TN players, I don’t care, get the best player available and plug them in. If that’s a bama player or a OSU player so be it. I’m tired of this team either sucking or making the playoffs to be a first round exit. They need a Super Bowl again and maybe a win this time, it should not have to take 25 years to even go to another.

Tell me: who should we have drafted at QB instead?

Him holding the ball down to his waste before he throws it. Caused 8 fumbles alone this year(a lot overall in his college career) and if you don’t think it happens more in the pros where they are bigger and faster, not sure what to tell you. The issue is, he has that hitch and it causes fumbles at a high level, however if you mess with that you mess with his throwing motion which can end up making his accuracy out of whack. That with their OL sucking makes it even worse.

Out of that draft I’d rather picked one later rounds and got the extra draft picks. Next years QB class is much better most likely and it’s a rebuild anyways. Take extra picks, throw some journeyman out there and build your OL and DL.
I’ve heard this one before lol

Who next year is unquestionably better than Ward? Don’t say Arch, he’s already said he’s playing four years at Texas

I don’t disagree with trading back (and neither did 8188 ftr), but who did you want to see them get that would’ve been appropriate?

No matter what, even when they do good, like with this draft.

Not to mention that if the team does its job and wins more games they may not be in position to draft a better QB without trading up and potentially damaging the rebuild.

Son Callahan develops QB's. There is definitely enough talent to develop Cam into a good one. Dad Callahan develops O-line. There is now enough talent to develop a good one. They drafted some additional talent to throw to, including one as a UDFA that was his security blanket. They have two good RBs. Ingredients are there for a strong turnaround.

That’s been my question for months now, and a big reason I wanted us to get Ward while we had the chance to. Who are all these QBs coming out in next year’s supposedly “much better” QB class? Serious question.

Arch Manning hasn’t proven anything yet. And even if he turns out good, it seems like I have read multiple times that he is unlikely to declare after starting just one season.

Who else is there? Drew Allar? Solid player, but from what I’ve seen so far I’d probably take Ward. I remember Nico’s name being thrown around quite a bit there for a while (LOL). Maybe the kid from Clemson?

A lot can change in a year, but I just don’t see it right now. And even if there do end up being more bonafide 1st round talents next year, there is still no guarantee we’d be in a position to get one.

If Callahan posts another season like last year he is getting canned. You can't just throw a season away to get to the next draft.

The only reason people say next years class will be better is due to Arch. I fully believe that. And the big problem there is, let’s face it, people are only hyping him up due to his last name. He hasn’t proven anything yet at Texas. Take him out and there’s nobody truly special imo.

If any class will be elite it’ll be 2027. Sellers and Lagway feel like they can develop into really great QBs, and then there’ll probaly be a G5 QB who makes a big leap by then.Idk about you though, but I’d have preferred not to wait 2 more years for a QB.
