The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Most of the guys from the 4th round onward - receiver and otherwise- rarely make it. Thus round and onward are most often essentially developmental players, are they not?
It really depends. Guys fall sometimes for character or injury concerns.
Usually 2-5, is where you build depth. I'm just not in love with this guy.

I’m honestly happy if:

(1) the team doesn’t allow the 5th most sacks (and even worse pressuring) for a 3rd straight season (only 1 of 2 teams that didn’t relatively improve between 2023 and 2024)

(2) the team gets better than right above the worst when it comes to sacks/pressuring the opponents QB

…those feel like “you have to walk before you can run” issues that have to be solved first when it comes to a program at the professional level.

I feel like we’ll take another WR. Still need guard help and I am hoping for a couple of flyers at LB and CB. As someone already said, we’re pretty much in strict depth/project territory. But we’ve always been at our best when we’ve found a hidden gem or two in rounds 5-7.

Pre-draft Analysis:

“Dike is a deep threat who tied for the third-fastest 40 (4.34) for the receivers at the combine and averaged 18.6 yards per catch in 2024. He runs away from coverage on deep crossers, runs by defenders on go routes and gets safeties to bite on double moves. His speed makes him dangerous after the catch. Most of Dike's production came on deep crossing routes, but he has the tools to develop as a route runner. He is explosive and flashes the ability to shake defenders at the top of routes. He makes contested catches over the middle and can hold onto the ball while taking a big shot.”
Sounds like this guy excels on the routes that Cam Ward talked about in his PC yesterday.

Did we really do anything to improve our pass rush situation? Feel like our addition was an even trade for what we lost at the position. Feel like we had a chance to get more of an impact player at that position but we valued the extra pick more.

My issue is his drop rate. At the risk of sounding like a total homer, I truly think Thornton was a much better option there for a similar skill set, although I wanted Jalen Royals over all the other available receivers.

Ayomanor’s scouting notes:

Strengths:
  • NFL blend of height, weight and long speed.
  • Possesses work ethic and traits for rapid improvement.
  • Able to build up and bypass corners on outside release.
  • Sells his route fakes despite a lack of suddenness.
  • Able to stem route abruptly to beat leverage.
  • Has made acrobatic catches for touchdowns.
  • Physical tools and willingness to become a plus run blocker.

Weaknesses:

  • Lacks play speed to elude tight man coverage in pros.
  • Pops upright into breaks, tipping off coverage.
  • Ball-tracking is very labored down the field.
  • Poor catch technique results in excessive drop total.
  • Inconsistent positioning and balance as a run blocker.

Although I feel depth on the o line is a problem, maybe safety and linebacker?

Surprised we haven't addressed guard and safety. Maybe we have a couple of guys targeted in the 5th and 6th

Definitely think we need to go OL next but wouldn’t hate an LB
