I believe Express was a name brought up for the Grizzlies when they moved IIRC. There was an issue with it being close to FedEx Express I believe*.That’s just past history with teams that either did, or possible expansion teams in various leagues that would have called Memphis home. The AAFL team a few years ago was called the Express, and I believe there was another team back in the day that did as well, but I can’t remember the league…or even the sport tbh.
I could be misremembering the latter altogether. Might’ve been one of those deals that never even got off the ground.
Fun fact: the Jets were originally named the Titans because in mythology Titans were “greater than Giants” which was a clear shot at the NY Giants, their crosstown rivals.
As for the Hound Dogs, I totally agree. That’s a terrible name. You could shorten it to Hounds and it MIGHT be slightly passable, but still not my preference. They were stuck on that name due to the Elvis reference, which is dumb. If you wanna name a team for local reasons make it something cool. Memphis Blues, Memphis Bluffs, etc.
Colts GM won't fully commit to Wentz for 2022
The headline is a bit misleading. The actual quote says he will not comment on any player being back next year. Anyways hopefully they keep Wentz around forever. Texans just fired their coach too. So if Dehsaun does not come back the AFC South could by ours for the next few years. Jaguars never scare me.
The amazing thing is 7 new teams will make the playoffs next season..............It could be anybody. Even the Jags or Houston. I hope not.I'm not so sure about the Jags. Still a ton of potential there with Lawrence. If they get the right coach, they have plenty of cap room to build a solid foundation.
I hope the Colts hold on to Wentz. That franchise has earned some time in perpetual mediocrity like the rest of the division has endured at one point or another. What really sucks for them is they're a textbook example of being built to "win now", but I don't believe they have enough premium draft picks to seriously enter the Rogers/Wilson sweepstakes thanks to the Wentz trade.
Texans are a mystery to me. It almost defies logic how an otherwise promising young franchise has backslid the way it has. They could very well be on their way to becoming the league's new perennial bottom-feeders.
