The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

They showed a stat during the game saying Andy Reid is 1-7 all-time vs. the Titans and that we’re the only team he hasn’t beaten at least twice. What a way for that record to stand.

I also didn’t know Vrabel is now 11-0 when leading OR tied at halftime.

We are basically Andy Reid's Muschamp at this point

Okay so is it time to starting discussing keeping Tannehill?

1. 3-1 as the starter
2. 3 game winning drives as a starter
3. Durable (4 straight seasons of starting 16 games, 1 season w/13 starts and another with 11)
4, He is no Marcus Mariota but he has some mobility that allows us to run some of the same schemes we were doing with MM.
5. We're not going to be in a position to draft one of the superstar QBs this draft and I'm not sure we'd want anyone in the FA market.

I mean, discuss it, but he’s not the answer.

Miami is a dumpster fire. He can be a very serviceable QB. He's the best the Titans got currently and I don't see them getting a top FA QB

Yeah, all those years Mariota looked bad he just needed a better system, or line, or coaching staff, and all those years Tannehill looked bad he just needed a new team. Those arguments don’t usually work out well. He hasn’t been that good with the Titans, either, he’s just been better than Marcus and we’re winning. People are getting carried away

His QB rating is 20 points higher. His QBR is almost twice that of Mariota's (and close to Aaron Rodgers). That's not just a little better.

His QBR is around 50. That’s more a statement on how bad Marcus is (and how bad a season Rodgers is having, by his standards)

That QBR is also lower than Case Keenum’s, who got benched, and much lower than Fitzpatrick’s
Doesn’t that show we shouldn’t be reading too much into statistics? Because I think most Titans fan would be in agreement about taking Tanny over Fitzy. Tannehill isn’t the long term answer, but I’d like to have him through next season unless he completely bombs these last few games.

Yes, it does, which is why I’m not the one who brought up stats. I agree with all of this.

Looks like Lewan has started the 12 step program.

Titans OT Lewan: My penalties 'screwing team'

"Before we even start this whole thing, my penalties are a f---ing problem," Lewan said. "I am 100 percent an issue with that. It is not intentional. I do not mean to do it. My intentions are good. I am just trying to finish. And it is killing the team. ... I am completely screwing the team with the amount of penalties I have had these last -- what -- six games.

"... It's horrible. I cannot get penalties. I am sorry. There is no need to ask me about it because I know I am an absolute liability when it comes to penalties."

I mean, discuss it, but he’s not the answer.

The answer to what?

If it's to the long term void the Titans have had at franchise QB, I agree he's not the answer.

If it's a matter of simply being a viable option for the Titans to pursue for 2-3 years while they have this crop of talent on defense, I think he is very much in the running of being the answer. Because unless we're picking in the top 3-5, none of these rookies are going to come in and outperform him.

Nick Foles, Trent Dilfer, Joe Flacco and Eli Manning have won SB's. Don't even try to say that Tannehill cannot with the right team around him. Is he a franchise guy - maybe not. But who is nowadays when you are drafting in the middle to back of the pack and have to trade your future to get to the top picks? They had their shot at it with MM and it didn't work out, which is how it usually goes. Get an O-line that can protect Tannehill and block for Henry. Then make sure the D is in the top tier and you have a shot at a SB.

This. It's not an absolute must to have a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Aaron Rodgers to win a SB.

Yeah but it sure does make things easier. With an average QB you have to be elite at every position group to win a SB. I think we have an elite RB. OL, DL, LB, and secondary would have to be much, much better.
