Bad teams make bad penalties at bad times. So much for Mularkey saying this team would be disciplined.

Two terrible teams playing football. What a dumb call by the Texans. Punt the ball and play field position.

Good Game Titans!

I think you all are still a year away. Saw some good things though. Need to be patient with Mariota. Might pay off in the end. I think you need some more weapons at WR though. And definitely some more pieces on defense. I was surprised you all didn't run Henry more though. If for nothing else than just a change of pace.

Anyway the more I see Osweiler, the less optimistic I am. He just has the tendency to make some REALLY bad decisions. Sadly he's still better than anyone we've had in a long, long while. Not saying much really. And this is the second game in a row where our defense looked no better than average.

Still think this is the Texans' division to lose, but admittedly that's a pretty low bar once again this year.

GO TEXANS!

Guy's blaming Mariota?

We have an Offensive Coordinator that hasn't been an NFL OC for nearly 12 years!! It's a different game and he is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole with Mariota and this offense and Malarkey is enabling it with his exotic smash mouth football? LOL

What NFL team is winning games with a run first offense in this day and age?

Agree, it is run first and they are not winning.

I just don't think CMM has a choice at this point. With the receivers they have it has to be a run first. The O-line needs another year to develop its pass blocking before they can give MM the time he needs to complete passes in this scheme. When a 5th round rookie is your go to receiver - that's a major problem no matter how good he is.

This is a non-West Coast passing scheme with a rhythm passer. That is a hot mess until he adapts or they adapt to him. Remains to be seen how it turns out. At least they are not getting blown out and have been reasonably competitive.

People said the same thing during the early weeks of last season. The wheels are eventually going to fall off just like last year. The defense has basically kept us in every game by themselves, thanks largely to Lebeau. He is great at what he does, but he does not have the talent or depth on that side of the ball to sustain it all season. We are one or two injuries away from a repeat of '14.

I don't know what the hell has happened to Marcus Mariota, but he has looked nothing short of terrible so far this season. DeMarco Murray has played well, the offensive line is performing much better than last season (or at least our tackles are https://twitter.com/pff/status/782966220870062080), and even without DGB, I still don't think our WR's are any worse than last season (although they still suck). Mariota doesn't look comfortable, and his short-to-medium accuracy has gone from one of the best in football to virtually nonexistent.

It isn't panic time yet. I mean, he's still only started 16 games in the NFL, but he has definitely regressed from the exciting, good decision-making, accurate rookie we saw last year.

And yes, I do believe our offensive scheme is a big reason for Mariota's early season struggles. We run more 1 and 2 WR sets than anyone else in the league, with receivers that lack great speed, and our routes are about as sophisticated as a decent high school team's. As mentioned before, he is a rhythm passer with (what at least used to be) excellent short-and-mid range accuracy. He simply is not built for what we're trying to do offensively. He may very well adapt to it, but that remains to be seen.

He's better than VY and Locker. The sacks are somewhat telling there as I think he's holding the ball too long and indecisive about taking off.
