Between seven-on-seven work without lines and 11-on-11 team work, he was 13-of-18 and didnt throw an interception.
"You could tell he was training this offseason, really in the playbook," tight end Delanie Walker said. "He called the huddle with poise, said the plays like he knew them, ran the offense very well. Thats exciting to see when youve got a young quarterback coming in and ready to go."
Twice Mariota was able to use a hard count to get the defense to jump offside.
Before any defenders were involved when quarterbacks were simply throwing to receivers, Mariota launched a beautiful spiral 40-yards to Justin Hunter in stride
Kendall Wright is clearly the top receiver and Hakeem Nicks got the bulk of the work opposite Wright. But the second snap of many series featured two new guys, including Harry Douglas, Hunter and Green-Beckham.
What did DGB do?
So far Mariota has yet to throw a int in 5 practices.
Training camp and preseason games these are the things that get overblown.
It's a good sign but not going to overreact. The regular season games then fans can get a idea about drafted players, and if a team has improved to be a good team.
No doubt zack will get the bulk of playing time in most preseason games.
So far Marcus Mariota has been incredible for the Titans both on and off the field. One thing that has really struck me about him is that he really is Oregon's equivalent to Peyton Manning. The love and appreciation Ducks fans have for MM is palpable and it seems he'll have a similar effect PM had on a lot of Vols fans after PM was drafted. I'd expect that a fair number of Ducks fans will follow the Titans like PM fans followed the Colts and now the Broncos.
Both are superlative talents and great ambassadors for their alma maters. Let's hope MM's career is somewhat close to PM's, except with a few more championships.
I'm super stoked about Marcus and am finally excited about the future Titans football again.
