The Official Tennessee Titans Thread II

Guys, don't overreact. PM still loves the University of Tennessee. The college team and the pro team couldn't be more different.

Yep. There's only one team that plays Tennessee football, and they don't wear baby blue.

It's stupid to act like this is some kind of personal betrayal. He picked a football organization, not a set of fans.

The Titans and Vols are two very different beasts. He doesn't have any allegiance to the state of Tennessee and expecting him to come here just because he went to school at UT is ridiculous. There are people in Nashville and Memphis who hated his college career. Come on, getting upset and insulting him seems a bit over the top. He's been beating up on the Titans for over a decade now, he doesn't care about them. I don't think they were even the Titans until a year after he left.

As for me, I'm laughing at the fact that Tim Tebow is basically out on the streets so this is all fine by me. I say keep Hasselbeck, sit Locker for another year and then trot Locker out in 2013 and see what he can do.

@jwyattsports Adams said he kidded Manning about Denver decision. "I told him he was going into high altitude so he better start getting in shape."

"Oh hey Matt, I know we totally went all in after Manning and planned to put dump your ass on the street...yeah, it didn't happen soooo we still need you to start and be a leader for this team. Thanks."

My wife is so disappointed about not landing PM, and she's a Bammer.

I'm excited we can focus on Locker now. Hasselbeck is a great guy, a true professional, and someone I think will be a good steward for the team. And people shouldn't forget that PM didn't play football last year and is declining. I believe he's got some good years left, but there are still reasons to feel good about the Titans situation.

Also, Kuharsky mentioned again that the Titans should inquire about Freeney and said Wimbley should be a focus. Doubt the Colts would trade Freeney to the Titans, though.

The front office and Munchak are all-in with Hasselbeck and I'm certain he understands that. I don't think there's going to be a problem there.

BOOOOOOM

@jwyattsports Former Raiders DE/LB Kamerion Wimbley is visiting the #Titans today on a free agency visit.

Don't get excited. Don't get excited.

Depending on what the Titans would give up, as a fan I would be in favor of exploring trading Freeney

I'm pretty sure he said that the QB position is up for grabs this year between the 2

You're right. I did a bad job explaining what I meant.

They wouldn't have been interested in Manning if it hadn't been for Bud and were comfortable with the QBs on the roster. That's a more appropriate statement.

Why sit Locker another year, when he's basically as good as Old Man Hasselbeck right now?

because - as well as he's coming along - locker still is a project (as was said from the beginning) and needs his development to go well more than anything else.

You'll see him play more this season. They're probably following the Steve McNair route with him (he jumped up to playing in 9 games his second season; starting the last 4), and it's not at all a bad thing.

But - if we want him to be the QB we're all expecting him to be - he doesn't need to be out there until he's fully ready and they know he's ready (not necessarily he says he's ready or that we want some youth or are impatient).
