The moment he turned from 3rd and the LF’er already had fielded the ball I knew that was going to go poorly. No idea why we sent him on such a shallow hard hit ball.

Exactly. It’s easy to say in retrospect, but the odds of scoring there were better than the odds of getting a hit in the next at bat the way Mahoney is pitching. LF made a great throw.

Yep. First hit of the game and was two outs. The right call was to send the runner. Much higher odds than getting another basehit.
