We still dancin, we still dancin!!!

Beating a 6-seed by 20 points as an 11-seed? Hot dang, this team is just clicking right now. I think UMass was obviously overseeded, but conversely, Tennessee was underseeded based on current play and starting talent.

1. We started out hot again and left our foot on the gas. 11th wire-to-wire win of the season. I think the key might just be starting strong...lol.

2. Jordan McRae is such a joy to watch. He is so smooth, and he has picked up the D in the last two games.

3. Stokes and Maymon are such a load inside. Both finish with double-doubles and made it look easy. UMass didn't seem to want any part of those two.

4. So many hustle plays by all the guys. Diving on loose balls, running out of bounds to save loose balls, etc. That is championship plays that don't go in the boxscore.

5. Barton played really well against Williams defensively. He may be struggling offensively right now, but he put the clamps on CW.

6. Richardson again, was so smooth and efficient. I'm excited about next season if his recent play is a preview of it. That midrange jumper is money in a way that CLo's 3-point shot was. I fully expect it to go in every time he shoots it.

7. The 1-3-1 was used a little more extensively today and it was very effective. I'm glad we switched back and forth to keep them honest. We even rebounded well out of the 1-3-1.

8. Darius Thompson, if I have one complaint, it's that you are good for one lazy, lackadaisical pass a game. Clean that up, but otherwise, he is taking steps to help his team win without scoring. His court vision is stellar for a freshman. He is doing a better job handling ball pressure as well.

9. I'm concerned about the fatigue factor of playing 3 games in 5 days, but less concerned given the fact we dodged a bullet in not having to play Duke.

10. Having said that, Mercer is no slouch. They are a tough, smart team that is well-coached. We can't take them for granted or overlook them, or we'll be sent packing. Duke obviously was outplayed, and they hit 15 3-pointers. Mercer is legit, and probably underseeded too. Happy to avoid Duke, but not penciling us in the Sweet 16 yet.

7/11 12/13 26 points 14 rbs and 3 assist. Those are simply what your best player is suppose to do. This will open eyes to him being triple teamed and leave open shots for McRae and Richardson. We're clicking at the right time and I don't think fatigue will be a factor, because of our style of play and the pace that we play at. We won't have to travel anywhere. Nice shoot around let them rest and get there bodies rejuvenated.

Gotta look past Stokes on this team. Barton's shooting is horrid and if I were playing UT, I would leave him open and double up on others. Barton will kill us before this is all over.

UT and Mercer had two common opponents this year.

UT vs. USC Upstate...Vols 74 UPST 65
Mercer 62 UPST 60 (OT)

UT vs. Ole Miss Vols 86 Ole Miss 70
Mercer 79 Ole Miss 76

If not for a few of Barton's shots we would have lost to Iowa. Just putting that out there

We still have Richardson, Maymon, and McRae. I think we'll be fine.

Mercer will pack it all inside and make us shoot to win. I don't see this team winning in games like that. Too streaky shooters. If Stokes could dominate, different story but Mercer, with 5 seniors, will make us shoot to win which is our Achilles heel.

Having a recent loss to Mercer, don't think we'll have to worry about taking them lightly.
More like, (forgot the line) but something about women and children.
My Vols are hot and focused.
GBO. We proud agin.

Mercer doesn't have anyone that can consistently stop Stokes.

stokes' 14 rebounds tied the school record for an ncaa tournament game, equaling the mark set by isiah victor in 1999 and reggie johnson in 1980. Throw in jeronne maymon's 11 points and 11 rebounds, and it marked the first time the vols had multiple double-doubles in an ncaa game since 1977.

This was tennessee's biggest margin of victory in an ncaa game since beating long beach state 121-86 in the 2007 first round.

His 3 against Iowa gave us the lead and his D has been grade A. He doesn't play well against Iowa late or lets his man by him as Golden would, season is already over.
Basketball is more than missing a few shots.

Agree. He shut down Chaz Williams today.

Stokes has been a joy to watch here at Tennessee. Gonna miss him if he leaves.

McRae also dominated today. His dunk was felt across America.

Maymon may not be the best player, but he is the vocal leader on this team. He has really come alive the last few weeks and his good play takes a lot off the shoulders of Stokes.

Thanks for the write up, Chris.

Since we were playing the minutemen, you could say "the shot heard around the world."

Am I the only one who felt CCM should of gotten the starters out of there a little sooner?
