The Official Say Something Nice about UNC Thread

I read he was born in Stoney Fork Township, North Carolina. He could have moved pretty early on though.
Don't really know, my grand dad played a lot with him when they were young. I have met Doc several times, he is a very nice and impressive man.

One time I was at an amusement park and playing the make a shot and win a prize game and I chose a North Carolina ball because there were no others worth a damn to give away to somebody...

My grandad is Tom Ashley. Ever listen to his stuff?

I actually have. The cuckoo and the dark holler are two sings I have heard. And their version of the House of the Rising Sun. I love bluegrass.

So it is. Wonder why you can never find it outside of the Carolinas then. . .

I don't get to Carolina much, but the only place I ever see Sundrop is Chattanooga -- on my way to Atlanta. Cherry Sundrop is the freaking BEST!

Ah. I went to college in South Carolina. All the Charlotte people (and most of the SC people) knew and loved it. Had never seen it before (grew up in the Tri-Cities).

I have never seen it in the Tri-Cities. But I saw Dr. Enuf one time in Honea Path, South Carolina, so who knows?

I get an occasional Sundrop at the local gas stations here in JC..... I lived in Ohio for about 12 years and never saw it there so I always feel inclined to grab one every time I see it here.

Lets not forget that NC

1 produces some pretty good football talent that ends up signing with us
2 when you are in Myrtle Beach and have failed to plan correctly...you can drive a short distance to NC to buy beer on Sunday
3 Kenny Powers calls it his home

:lolabove:nice one.

Haven't been there is a VERY long while but I loved Pisgah National Forest. Best backpacking trip I ever took except maybe for Kings Canyon in California. In both places caught and ate trout in the outback. In both places my hiking partner walking behind me got scared to death. Pisgah she said she held her breath as I intercepted a cottonmouth with my ankle high booted feet. Never felt or saw a thing but she was out of her wits as she explained to me what happened. Kings Canyon, I was sitting right next to a carol snake unaware until I turned to take a picture of a nearby mountain waterfall, bracing myself with my right hand to scoot to a better sitting spot and noticed what was next to that hand. The camera? I have no idea which way it went but I think (honest) I took a 15-20 foot sideways leap from a sitting position. Hiking partner backs this up that she watched the flight then did a Spider-man climb up the rock face when I pointed to why I had suddenly acquired the gift of flight.

Despite this, I loved Pisgah, beautiful, wild place, always wanted to return, things never worked out. But this coming spring or summer, I'm going back. Besides, it's a good excuse to revisit the Smokey Mountains so NC is really nice in my book.
