LMU Splitters basketball roster. Not sure if its complete or not but look up some of these guys. Tekorian Smith coached by Penny Hardaway, Khalil Johnson #15 player in Al. , TJ Harvin from Bartow Fl. , Keller, Dahl, and Henry. Odem from UTC, Williams redshirt frosh, Perriere from France and returners like Shaw, Pinson and Terry. LOADED again. May take a while to hit their stride with so many new ones but holy hell. Check out highlight video on these guys.

Wow you are correct, that roster is very strong. That's a solid DII program, and has been for a long time. One of the best arenas in DII if not the best.

That must be some Pete DeBusk money right there.

I could have the wrong guy in mind here, not 100% sure, but Pete DeBusk is the guy who owns DeRoyal, correct? Someone told me that he ran a sneaky little cash diversion scheme with LMU in the 90's. About 5-6 years ago when I was home from college for the summer and living with my parents I got paired up with a guy during a golf tournament (Anderson County Amateur??) who played basketball at LMU in the early 2000's and worked for DeRoyal. My dad was caddying for me and this guy was telling us about how LMU was basically DeRoyal's tax haven.

I don't understand that stuff well enough to explain it in detail but some of the business savvy guys on here probably could. Like sponsoring fundraisers and using $$ he pooled from donors as working capital during the year and then making a charitable donation in DeRoyal's name at the end of the year?? Someone else could explain it a lot better than me.

Pretty sure this is the guy I'm thinking of. Pumped a ton of money into LMU for their law school and medical school.

Yes, Pete DeBusk owns DeRoyal Industries and has a genius IQ level son that's been groomed to take it over. Pete Sr is a billionaire (with a "B") and they're way too smart to do something stupid and illegal to put that empire at risk. No doubt they could set things up in a very complicated financial structure in order to take full advantage of all available tax rules. Tax avoidance, no doubt. Tax evasion, no way.

Pete invented the Velcro walking boot to go over plaster casts. They're went deep into surgical trays for operations. They have assembly/production operations in several rural communities such as Rose Hill, VA. He employs, or at least used to employ, a lot of sewing machine operators from out in the sticks.

The LMU Law school is named for him and is located in downtown Knoxville in the building that housed the city administration until about 40 years ago. Before that it had a role in the Civil War and/or was a hospital.

I just can't imagine that family running some kind of scam when they continue to make a fortune legitimately in the medical supplies/devices industry.

Pete played basketball for LMU. His son looks real familiar and I think he might sit court side at the TBA now and then.

Yeah he has pretty much become LMU. The driving force. He attended the same high school as me and graduated 3 or 4 years before me. Thomas Walker Hi in Ewing Va. LMU has a veterinary school up in Ewing now and a medical factory office.
BTW, Thomas Walker at one time was a basketball force in Va. Single A school led by one of the winningest coaches in Va. history. Ronald Skeen. I was team manager on his bb and baseball teams. Great guy.

That arena was built mostly on a donation by Frank Tex Turner.

When I attended my first year there in 73 there were 400 students. We played bb in the old matchbox Mary Myers Gym. In 1975 we went to the final four in the NAIA and were 1 point away from playing in the NC game. That was a great team made up of many rejects from other schools. We did have a third team AA pt. guard. Before the 3 point shot and we had players that could shoot the lights out from deep. Our shooting guard from N.C. Doug Potter had only one eye but was a marksman. We also had an ex Va. Tech player Barry Isom 6'10" and two other front line players 6'8" and 6'9". Also a kid that Frank McGuire at USCjr had recruited heavily. Ah those were the days. Drinking age was 18. LMU was one big family with professors and kids being on much more equal footing than today. The nursing school came in 1975 and the place exploded and is now about 4500 students. On a par of David Lipscomb.
I talked to the AD's wife the other day and she told me that the ASUN conf. doesn't need another team right now is why we havent moved up to D1 yet but we are looking for another conf. Rusty Peace the voice of the Splitters told me the ASUN wasn't a done deal though. May still be possible.
Thanks for letting me post this stuff. This thread was pretty dead so I figured why not.

Boring as usual with Floyd fights but once again he proved why he's the best defensive boxer in the world. McGregor fell for his usual tactics and got tired out. By the time it was called it was only gonna get worse for McGregor.

I'm surprised McGregor fought as well as he did. I like his stance, his rhythm, and the angles he was getting shots off from was beautiful. He just couldn't put any power behind his punches, even with the 8oz gloves. If he practiced throwing punches like a boxer everyday, for his whole life, it would of been a fantastic fight. Instead Mayweather wins another "eh" fight in a undefeated, lackluster career. Rocky Marciano 2.0

I agree with what you said about McGregor, the first 6-7 rounds looked like a totally different fight than the last few. Connor's form looked great considering he's never boxed before.

Towards the end when he got tired he left himself open to a few too many shots to the face and upper body. I think if he trained more he could be a good boxer. He's athletic and he's proven that he's tough enough to take a beating and stay in the fight. Anyone who says they weren't impressed is lying.

I'm still waiting for the Donnie Tyndall show cause to resurface.
Doesn't Trump know Donnie? Could he get a Pardon?
