He has 3 years to play 2, he couldn't transfer to a JUCO to get his academics in order, take a redshirt and go back D1 with 2 years remaining?

He could go to juco and not play but not sure what that purpose would serve as that would likely put him even further behind academically

Going to a JUCO would put him behind academically?

Absolutely for a 3rd year guy

NCAA requires % toward graduation after each year. A juco only offers courses that generally count for your first 2 years meaning he would get virtually none of his 3rd year requirements

Going to a juco without any eligibility left would make zero sense really

Why not just transfer to a D1 school and do the same thing though? Transfer, redshirt, and still have 2 to play 2.

That's the way to do it for sure. The only logical reason to go to juco the 3rd year is financially(doesn't get scholarship anywhere) but then as I posted before it likely doesn't work academically

From how it's sounded a lot of these D1's are having trouble getting him admitted into their schools, would hay not still apply if he's redshirting at said school, he still has to be admitted.

Then it's D2 or NAIA for him. Juco makes no sense

He could pay his own way to whatever D1 school would offer courses he needs as well that would admit him. Online courses sound possible as well
