Richard Pitino has driven that program back into the ground. Just really poor game planning IMO.
Tubby' leftovers gave him a decent first season but it's been downhill from there. He will be in the market for a new job this time next year.
He got hired at Minnesota because of his last name. His record in his lone year at FIU was 18-14, less than stellar.
Only 2 conference wins this past year was a low point for that program. single digit wins after 40+ wins the two years before is a really bad trend.
8-23 this past season overall. Not many decent coaches (if any) have ever seen that big of a 2 year decline (23 wins to 8 wins) and been able to climb out of it and become an elite coach.
From what little I know about gopher basketball it looks like to me their best years since the 90s came under tubby. Looks like to me he took the program to or near it's ceiling which is the best way to gauge a coach IMO
