Dumbed it down with one touch dekes and bigger hits. Might as well be a EA Big game and throw clowns and dolphins out there to shoot at, too. I see games being 9 to 14 now.

dekes have never been too significant in playing the game to players not named Bearcat =)

As for the hits, I'd rather them be over the top than muted - just my opinion though.

C'mon, who doesn't like to tee off on somebody?!

This is my take, they get the series to where its a (fair) representation of hockey, then turn it into WWE like cartoon crap.

Well see what else they've done, but it seems like they're gearing this edition towards the laugh track and fart joke crowd.

As long as I can hipcheck a muthafawker across the ice with no penalty while laughing my arse off, Im happy.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary, NHL 14 will include an NHL 94 Anniversary Mode.

Built using the NHL 14 game engine, NHL 94 Anniversary Mode uses classic button controls to deliver big goals, bigger hits and spectacular speed, taking fun to a whole new level. The mode also offers nods to its hockey video gaming roots through a retro presentation style including blue ice, classic star-shaped player indicators, organ music and a few more surprises.

Recognized as one of the most popular games of its era and the title that put the NHL videogame franchise on the map, NHL 94 Anniversary Mode gives another generation of players a new way to play old school hockey.

Read more about the the NHL 94 Anniversary Mode, in the latest Gameplay Developer Diary Blog.

NHL 14 will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 10th in North America and September 13th worldwide.

Other sites have chimed in on the news as well.

Just disappointed you will only be able to play the '94 anniversary mode in single player..........would have liked to see it expanded to online multiplayer or even EASHL

Havnet played it yet, but the reviews are pretty positive.......................but I think they always are when demos come out. There isnt much I dont like about '13, so if they just touch up on some of the skating physics I will be happy.

after a quick sample, gameplay feels real smooth, computer team mates move to a loose puck better, new deeks are nothing special as far as a major improvement, LT seems to over do it when you tap it, goes into a full on spin-a-roonie. had two fights but on was on the NHL 94 game but it was similar to the fight i had in a HUT game, honestly not overly impressed with how the fighting is but again, small sample size. playing as the blackhawks against the bruins in the play now, forwards can still skate right past, around, and through CPU defensemen for a clear shot at the net. HUT seems still just as ****ty as it was last year in comparison to years past.

not a huge improvement as far as anything groundbreaking but i'll end up making this a purchase again i'm sure.

and that's something i don't think you'll really be able to tell from the demo if nothing other than the fact that you're playing with superstar players the whole time and not some created and low rated guy, which is where most of us spend our time anyhow

Outside of the first couple of weeks, I always play as an elite player in EASHL
