The difference between these two teams is $50M worth of pitching. The Yanks are the youngest team in the playoffs, and Boston spends $50M more than NY. This isn't George Steinbrenner's Yankees. They can go tit for tat with anyone except the starting rotation. Boston has developed their home grown talent in position players, but they brought in Porcello, Sale, Price, and Eovaldi. That is the difference between the two. As good as the Yankees are in the bullpen, their starting rotation has been their achilles heel for years. Until they address that, they will be also rans in the AL playoffs.

I'd be surprised if CC is back. I expect Sheffield at some point next season (before the break). There's some talent in the system, but they definitely need rotation help. Sevy and Tanaka are a good 2-3, with Sevy being a possible 1.

You're right, but Houston has three pitchers who are top of the rotation caliber. Boston leads with Sale and has three others that are number 2 guys or better. Neither of these teams has a three or four. Sevy has talent, but he is inconsistent and struggles in big moments. Tanaka is a breaking ball away from snapping a ligament. They don't have a guy that is a guaranteed W when he takes the mound and takes the pressure off of the rest of the rotation.

Didi underwent TJ surgery today. According to the Yankees, it went "as expected." The surgery was performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

Ironic that a fan of the Cobb County Commuter Braves wants to troll a Yankees thread about rings. The Braves have all the pageantry and fan following of a good double A ball club. Nice try though.

Our fans are passionate too!
-Braves fans after the infield fly game a few years ago.

Pro tip- if you have to tell people your fan base is passionate, your fan base isn't passionate. Suntrust does look good with 15k opposing fans every night though.

If the Yanks get Machado, it will be a business decision to sell merchandise. If they decide to compete for titles again, they will get top level starting pitching. They need Machado even less than they needed Stanton. The lineup is championship caliber. The rotation is not competitive.
