The Official New York Knicks Thread.

Bulls should be OK if they get healthy aside from D Rose, IMO. If they just have average play at PG they could be the #3 seed.

Nets don't have enough D or rebounding (because Evans gets 14 MPG), and their scoring isn't enough to compensate.

The Knicks can't score, and without Chandler they can't reboud or defend. With him they are probably an average team.

Reggie Evans can play 36 mpg and only fixes one thing while having another issue arise.

Lopez isn't a good rebounder, but he's one of the top rim protectors in the game. Opponents shoot around 36% percent when he protects the rim and challenges shots. Evans can't do that.

What other issues arise? Did you mean to say he "can't" play 36? Why not? They were definitely a better team last year when he was playing 25 MPG.

Lopez is a good shot blocker, but shot blocking isn't even close to as important as rebounding. If you're good you get 2 BPG and alter a few other shots, but if you are blocking shots you aren't boxing out and oftentimes it results in Lopez's guy getting the rebound and an easy layup...when Evans gets a rebound (and he does this better than anybody) he is denying the opposition a second chance at a basket, which is crucial to winning.

Not speaking relevant to the nets because I don't watch any of their games, but the threat of a shot blocker thwarts penetration. It's about more than two blocked shots and a "few" altered ones.

Sure that's true, but when Lopez comes to help a savvy guard will just find Lopez's guy for an easy 2.

I want shot-blockers, no question, but it's overrated in its contribution to winning.

He can't protect the rim like Lopez can. Again, I'm not talking just shot blocking, but he protects the rim as well as anyone in the league.

Evans again doesn't fix their issues. Their issues are offensive spacing and getting healthy. If they get healthy, they'll be fine.

- 22nd in offensive eFG% (effective FG% weighs 3p%)
- 18th in offensive rebound % and 22nd in defensive rebounding %. .
- 23rd in defensive eFG%

They have 3 major areas where they suck about equally.

Have the Knicks become the mets of the Nba?

Now being watched because of wanting to see a embarrassing performance or blow a major lead.
Or maybe the Knicks have been infected with the same garbage performance as the Ny giants. Or it could just be a crappy year for New York pro teams in Football and Basketball.

Maybe not worst but definitely most dysfunctional

That would make them the cowboys of the nba or maybe the redskins.

The Knicks can still make the playoffs as a eight seed but since they can't consistently win games it's not in the Cards. If they did he playoffs they would be like the Bucks but they might win a game to prevent a sweep.

The Knicks seem like the Jets. There is games where they look good or great getting your hope up, but then finding a way to piss it away with crap performances.

Phil Jackson's 229 career postseason wins and 13 NBA Finals appearances are more than the Knicks have in their 68-season history.

The Knicks became the first team to win seven straight immediately after a seven-game losing streak since the 2003-04 Warriors.

Melo to Chicago? There's talk.

wouldnt be a good fit unless he seriously commits to defense. part of me is scared of him joining them because hes the scorer they have always needed, but the other part of me knows that Melo doesnt make teams better.

Fire him now! We can't be having this kinda conduct at such an exemplary organization as the Knicks! Lol!

What's with players getting HC jobs with no experience. Are there other sports where you see this?

NBA is becoming NHL, the HC is less and less critical and influential.

I think Jackson's insistence on a triangle guy shows he's essentially just hiring a puppet.

It's unfortunate to me that great assistant coaches who have worked hard for years easily get passed over for head coaching jobs because they lack playing experience. While guys who've never coached get giant contracts handed to them off of their playing experience and name recognition.
