The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Pretty smart if you ask me. Michael Waltrip is a mediocre to average driver, but he's a genius businessman.

He would be proud,

@JennaFryer: Well, I've listened to Vickers audio.
On Lap 396 Vickers is told he's got to pit and he replies "I've got to WHAT?"

"We're probably going to pit here on green."

Vickers "Are you talking to me?"

"Yeah, we're going to pit."

Vickers: "What? I've got to pit?".........."I don't understand. Pit right now?"

"You've got to pit this time. We need that 1 point."

BV: "10-4. Do I got a tire going down?"

"Yeah"........."Come down pit road right now, get a good look at it."

BV: "Did you find anything?"

Michael Waltrip: "I'll see you after the race, Brian, I owe you a kiss."

This is exactly why there shouldn't be multi car teams. If you ain't cheating, you ain't winning.

Nothing of consequence will come of this. NASCAR doesn't have the cajones to change any of the results.

Good race for Bubba Wallace today. I don't understand the restart order rules, but it seemed as though he gained nothing from any of the cautions. At one point it looked as though he should have restarted 2nd but then NASCAR dropped him back to 5th.

They also need to red flag more on these G-W-C. They had to run at least 3 extra laps just because NASCAR didn't have their **** together trying to figure out the running order. That is unfair to penalize people who are close on fuel simply because NASCAR can't figure out how to count during a minute twenty caution lap.

How is him spinning out any different than teams parking cars back in the day after one lap.

Well this is more blatant and brazen. It also put the driver at a pretty significant risk, where so much as I think Clint actually got hit on his spin.

After NASCAR did nothing to the #24 after last years Phoenix race they better not do anything to MWR. NASCAR should have parked the #24 or its driver for the final race last year but didn't.

Bowyer was almost guaranteed the Championship had Gordon not intentionally wrecked him at Phoenix if everything would have played out the way it did Bowyer finished 2nd at Homestead the next week and 2nd in the points. I think he was running around 4th or 5th at Phoenix before Gordon took him out and he finished around 30th. Would have went into Homestead with points lead.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting learning what the outcome will be. Do they fine someone? Deduct points? Let Newman and Gordon in on the Chase? haha.

What did they do to Junior a couple of years ago at Bristol when admittedly spun out on purpose to cause a caution?

I think he said he had a hang nail that was bothering him and had to come in to get a fingernail file to smooth it out.

I expect NASCAR to fine MWR a pretty penny. I don't see them going to the extent of pulling Truex out of the Chase, but if they did, it might open some eyes around the garage. I believe to a point that teams, like fans, don't respect NASCAR in regards to their wishy-washy decisions. Because they are hit and miss with those decisions, I think MWR took a chance and did what they did, hoping NASCAR wouldn't find out, or if they did, wouldn't have the guts to do anything about it. If NASCAR wants to make a statement and gain respect, they should probably make an unprecedented decision to change the Chase field.

The fair resolution would be to dock Bowyer points to send a message, but that will never happen.

Nascar doesn't have the cojones for that.

Bowyer didn't have a shot at the championship last year. He finished 39pts behind BK. He only lost 23pts by the 24 dumping him.(5th to 28th) You do the math. The 24 dumped him at Phoenix because he ruined his day. Bowyer running to Gordon's hauler was all show. If he wanted to do something he had plenty of time to get there before that little sprint at the end.

The did fine Dale Jr and dock him points for his intentional spin at Bristol years ago. However, Jr. went so far as to say on the radio that he had spun out on purpose, so I don't know if NASCAR is going to be willing to assess penalties simply based on what sounds like code for Bowyer being told to spin out intentionally.
