That's some big news for Kurt. Kind of an F you to Newman. Now if they could get a decent driver in the 10 car instead of Danica that team would be a tough team to beat.

Good for Kurt and SHR. He has shown he deserves a good ride. He has kept his cool for the most part even when it's hit the fan the last yr or so.

I hate it for Newman. If they do sign Kurt, it'll be a slap in the face to him. I hope he ends up in a decent ride. He can prob do a decent job in teh 78 as well. Could end up in the 29 if they can get sponsorship.

Slap in the face or not, Kurt is a better driver.

This is probably true but the way they went about getting rid of Newman is kind of slap in the face. They basically say they don't have sponorship for a four car to keep him around but then Haas says he would put up the money for Kurt if there isn't even sponor dollars there. I understand Kurt is probably a better driver and will probably put a car up front more often which would help get sponor dollars and make things a little easier. It's just kind of back handed to Newman who Stewart says is "a good friend".

I think Kurt has paid his dues, and perhaps learned some humility, over the past couple years after screwing himself with Penske. His talent has never been in question. I also think Newman has had a decent bounce back season and should be able to find a decent ride going forward.

If Monster will(in that capacity, they already do) sponsor Kurt, you're talking big $$$

This is true. I never liked Stewart before and this makes me like and respect him even less.

Stewart is in a tough spot. He is the owner of SHR, but can't speak for Haas Automation. If Gene Haas is willing to back Busch over Newman, that's his call. I don't think he was being untruthful to Newman. It's like Danica $$$$. This all sounds like it just came up. Nothing goes on behind the scenes anymore, without there at least being whispers. If Monster is willing to open the checkbook, he'd be stupid not to do the deal. Sometimes you jsut have to make business decisions. It's tough having friendships/family and business mixed.

Agreed. If Haas is willing to put money behind Busch where he wouldn't put money behind Newman, nothing Tony can really say about it.

If Newman were winning races with some kind of regularity we wouldn't be having this conversation. But he's not. So we are.

Y'all are making some good points. Maybe it's not as bad as it seems. I wonder if Haas ever really liked Newman or if it was Stewart who was shooting for Newman to be on the team?

Here is the reason why SHR will expand to four cars for Kurt and not Ryan; one has a championship and one doesn't...

I'd say it was Stewart

I would think so too. But also at the time they were starting their team I don't think there were a ton of drivers out there to choose from. Ryan was probably the best available at that time. Not to take anything away from Ryan. He has had a better career than some.

SHR announces Mark Martin to drive 12 of the final 13 races, Austin Dillon to run 'Dega. Vickers will also drive the final 12 races in the #55 with Waltrip in the seat for 'Dega.

I read earlier today that MWR and Aaron's had released MM out of his contract with them. I figured this was coming. Good for Vickers and MM.
