The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Unreal that, with all the problems the #48 had, he still finished 13th and gained points on Bowyer...

I want a bottle.

Jeff Gordon may best be known as a four-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, but he has long been a fine wine enthusiast.

He first discovered a love for wine in 1995 after winning his first championship in racing's premier series. Gordon was in London to celebrate and when being handed the wine list at an upscale restaurant, he yearned for the full experience. He ordered a bottle of Joseph Drouhin Batard-Montrachet and had never seen a white decanted before. Gordon took one sip of the white burgundy and declared it “liquid gold”. It was then that his passion for fine wine began.

Jeff developed an appreciation for the art of winemaking in the years that followed and decided to create his own brand centered on the aspects of flavor and quality that he enjoys in a glass of wine.

He partnered with August “Joe” Briggs in the Napa Valley as his winemaker because of his focus on producing quality-driven, small-lot wines and together with Joe’s nephew, assistant winemaker Jesse Inman, they have introduced extraordinary wines ever since. In 2011, Jesse took over the reigns of the Briggs brand, thus becoming primary winemaker for the Gordon brand with Joe’s continuing consultation.

The first vintage of the Jeff Gordon Collection- a 2004 Carneros Chardonnay- was released in late 2005, followed by a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Napa Valley Merlot, also of the 2004 vintage. In addition to Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot, they have introduced Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Napa Valley Rosé of Syrah and a signature red blend labeled “Joie de Vivre”. One of the highlights for Jeff has been naming two of the vintages after his children in the years they were born- the 2007 wines are dedicated to his daughter, Ella Sofia, and the 2010’s for his son Leo.

Oh god. I hope he is okay. I was just watching his seat swap with Lewis Hamilton a few years ago.

On Twitter it was said he was limping after getting out of his car and was alert and talking to first responders which is good. Rumor I've heard is a broken leg but I seriously hope that isn't true. Maybe this will be a wake up call for these guys.

Any link to the twit? I would like to post it in another forum.

Nevermind.

Tony Stewart leaves Iowa track in ambulance

Her husband is a racer and was at track > MT @amyjcoons: Jerry was told by an official that Tony Stewart has a compound fracture in his leg

If it is a compound fracture I doubt he would be back in the car for 5-8 weeks.

I got that figure from the internet who said it takes 2 months to heal. With a fine athlete like Tony it may be shorter.

I really hope its false but if its true, I hope he gives Labonte the seat. Maybe I'm just a sentimental old bastard but I'd love to see it.

The radio said he has alreqdy had surgery and would miss this weeks road course race. I would assume he'll be out a few more as well. Looks like his chase hopes are done.

I would guess Regan Smith. He's in the Hendrick group. You never know though. Maybe Harvick wants to try out a SHR car early..... I kid I kid.

Dave newton has every right to shout, "I told you so!" From the hills.

NASCAR Stewart should concentrate on Cup - ESPN

Apparently smoke told newton at pocono that he didn't appreciate the article.

I know this was a freak accident, but after seeing what happened to kubica, I would stay away from high risk activities that aren't my race job. If you're Hamlin that includes basketball.

Tony Stewart drives for Tony Stewart. It doesn't matter what anyone says, Tony can do what he wants to do in his free time as long as Mobil 1, GoDaddy, etc. don't have a complaint with it.
