The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

The irony with this season’s NASCAR champion is that Larson would have been the traditional cup champ in the old points format.

But this format has conditioned us to believe that Hamlin was robbed.

All that said, I feel awful for Hamlin.

Man did Denny get his heart ripped out..His car was by far the best on short runs and he lead so many laps..That last caution hit all wrong for him..I never thought 2 tires or no tires could hold him off but Larson seems to always catch stuff like that right on time..But the Denny/JD Gibbs/Denny's Dad thing made it almost tragic..Oh well..Congrats to the 5 team...They finished where they needed to.....

The only way to make Nascar great again is to throw out the leaders who think they are sophisticated and want to be like F1. We need some good old boy redneck idiots running this sport because they know what fans want. It seems like every Tom, Dick and Harry can drive the superspeedways with little problem. We need to see high horsepower, hang on for dear life pucker power to separate the real drivers from the cookie cutter munchkins we have now. Make it mean something to be in the top level of Nascar.

One of the best ideas coming out of all this was I think it was Kenny Wallace saying that the best thing for NASCAR would be that Dale Jr. should have Steve Phelps job.

All the drivers are basically cookie cutters of one another they at least to me have no personalities. They all pretty much look and talk the same.

To be honest outside some of the holdovers from 8-10 years ago I wouldn't be able to name them if you showed me there pictures.

I mentioned it several months ago that there really isn't any unique paint schemes anymore. All the schemes seem to be dark or subdued colors.

Here is the thing that puzzles me. The cars are all the same or they are supposed to be since they all come from the same source with no exceptions. How do the same teams keep dominating if every piece of equipment is the same. Same electronics, same cages, same clips and suspension parts. This just doesn't make sense to me. They need to do away with all this same parts crap. It leaves nothing for innovation or experimentation. You can't touch the body to play with cowl pressure or other tweaks. Under these rules we wouldn't know about crossover x-pipes or boom tubes. The auto industry as a whole is losing out but they are mostly producing cookie cutter cars anyway.
