i think they would as well. the real question is, would a smaller name driver be able to take advantage of it and make the chase?

it's pretty incredible what kyle is doing especially coming off a major injury.

The fact of making the chase or not is not really the point. Because the waiver was given before he won anything at all.

I will not take away from what Kyle is doing. Its a great five race run and he might make it more than a five race run.

Nascar has always done that sort of thing though. They came up with the past champion's provisional because Richard Petty didn't qualify for a race and they wanted to make sure that never happened again. The first year that Dale Jr wasn't eligible for the all star race they came up with the fan vote. They want to keep the major sponsors happy and the fans interested, especially since the chase is competing head to head with the NFL.
