The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

It states in the article something about possibly working on a deal with Roush

Yep, jack roush.

The dude is talented. Legit talented, it's junk that no company could find a way to market him. They can market Danica and they can market kyle Larson with sponsorship which takes note to what makes them different from a gender or racial standpoint. How can they not manage the same for bubba?

I'll throw it out there. How big of a factor do you think race is?

I honestly don't care myself. If you're fast, you're fast. That's all there is to it. But on the other side, if you don't bring in money, you don't race. I don't agree with it, but that's the nature of the business.

If he were less talented I would harp on the race issue a bit more. The biggest problem here is that the guy is very talented and has great feel and touch in a race car. He does well on camera and says the right stuff. If he was marginal I could understand this from JGR and the sponsors. Unlike Danica what makes bubba different isn't enough to carry the day. But the fact that they can't give a guy who has a winning track record a ride is frustrating. That applies no matter what color the driver is.

Very. Should have put him in the 54 car.

A formal announcement is expected soon, but Motorsport.com has learned that 21-year-old NASCAR Camping World truck series driver Darrell Wallace, Jr., will move to the Xfinity (formerly Nationwide) series in 2015 driving not for Joe Gibbs Racing, but for Roush Fenway as a fourth entry. Chad Norris is expected to be named Wallace's crew chief. Wallace was granted a release from his Gibbs contract to take the Ford ride after Gibbs was unable to guarantee the former Drive for Diversity racer a full-time job for 2015. Wallace became the first African-American driver since 1963 to win a race in a NASCAR touring series when he took a victory in the Camping World series in 2013, and he backed that up with four more wins in 2014. Wallace had been driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports with Gibbs backing. Norris had been crew chief for Cup driver Carl Edwards and most recently Trevor Bayne

I expect Carl to have a big year in his first year at JGR. Kenseth was a runner up two years ago, Harvick won the championship in his first season at SHR. Carl will drive with a renewed spirit.

JGR had a down year. I expect them to be back next year.

Days until the Daytona 500
