Wonder why evil locke\smokie needs x amount of people and or certain people to get of the island?
I think Smokey-Locke cannot leave the island while Jacob and/or all the candidates are on the island. He killed Jacob, and now he either needs to kill the candidates or take them off the island with him.
I'm sure that if they resist he will try to kill them.
The two things I want to know is, why can Jacob be killed but the MIB cannot? And why does the MIB always kill a bunch of people when they first get on the island? (He killed the pilot in the first episode...why??? And he killed the captain of the Black Rock). Why does he choose to kill some so quickly, but not others?
So I was watching a show on the History channel the other night about the Garden of Eden. They discussed the story from several ancient sources (Hebrew Bible, Sumaria and others). They were basically trying to figure out the geographical location of Eden. There were several things in the show that made me think of Lost. E.g., several theories say Eden was an island; the smoke monster is much like a snake; the persuasiveness of Jacob and the Smoke monster if they speak; basic discussions between the struggle between good and evil; the idea that Eden represents the world and man's place in it prior to civilization (including a good discussion of the development of agriculture as the foundation of organized civilization). There we're other things as well. Food for thought.

I have a hard time seeing the island as Eden. Now saying its a bad theory, just something about it just doesn't fit. Mainly the fact that its an island that no one can find. So, civilization was started on an island no one can find? How did people get off the island once they were banned?
Does Eden cork up evil from the world? Because that is what the island is doing.
The two skeletons in the cave they named Adam and eve is what has given birth to the theory of it being Eden. I don't agree or disagree with it i just think and accept we will not know for sure until all is sad and done. Personally the purgatory theory is what I think. But I also don't think it is that simple or easy. To many obscure hints, references and suppositions are being present on the show.
i just don't understand how any one person can say that theory 'x' is a bad one....especially if it's going along with the shows themes. honestly, nobody knows how it will end at this point.

So we should all agree even if it is a crazy off the wall theory? Whats the point of that? The producers have said its not purgatory and I said that A&E isn't that bad of a theory even though its almost as old as purgatory and I don't think it will ultimately be how the show will end.
not really what i meant. you forgot to bold the last part..
Adam and Eve are just nicknames and given what we knew at the time, they are the only nicknames that made any sense. Would Ike and Tina have made any sense? Also, the producers have said many times that it is not purgatory. How can it be? They have left the island and come back.

You really don't read or take the time to comprehend the entirety of a post do ya.
No I read it and comprehended every word you said. What I can't understand is how someone can watch more than 90% of a show and still think the answer is actually one of the very first theories even though there is more evidence against it than there is for it. Ultimately I think we will have to piece a few things together after the finale to get the full answer but we are far enough along to start crossing things of the list.
I understand what you are getting at. However taking all doctrines of faith concerning purgatory into account not just today's understandings. But the genealogical root of why they beleive as they do. Including mythology and mysticism. In an odd way it fits. Now can you apply the same logic and understanding to other therioes, yes.
I just like this one.
