The "official" Lost thread

on a side note, i know this might be a little random detail that not many people remember back in season 1 or 2....but did they ever clear this up?

YouTube - Lost - Hurley bird

it's one of the strangest scenes in the entire show IMO. I keep expecting them to clear it up at some point, but it still hasn't happened yet. i'm beginning to doubt if they'll ever explain with as close the show is to being wrapped up.

Will it really matter if they don't? That bird had nothing to do with the story line other than to show that Michaels gun wasn't loaded. There has never been a confirmation that the bird actually said "Hurley". It's a totally fan created "mystery" that some fans demand to be solved even though it is trivial. It's like Annie, Ben's childhood friend. A bunch of people demand to know what happened to her and want to know her back story but she was in one episode and didnt really do anything. I think she was only shown to help us sympathize with Ben.

Back to the original question, I have heard that the Hurley Bird will be explained.

it's not really "fan created" if the producers of the show brought up the question of it saying his name to begin with. i mean honestly.....if this was something that was solely in the minds of fans then they wouldn't have included hurley's line of questioning whether it said his name or not. plus i don't see how you could come to the conclusion that this scene isn't part of the main storyline when we don't even know if it will mean anything in the end yet. there's still some time left. it wouldn't surprise me if they tied it in with the big picture at the end somehow.

And Sawyer replied, "Yea, right before he crapped a golden egg." Not sure if that seen meant anything. Maybe yes, maybe no.

What makes you think that it is part of the main story line? Its a 30 second clip that has never been mentioned again nor have we seen anything similar to it again. The idea that it might still be part of the main storyline just because the story isn't finished is ridiculous. By that logic, EVERYTHING could possibly still be part of the main story line.

What I'm trying to say is that if there are 100 mysteries that are left to be solved, it ranks at about 99. I say it is a fan created mystery because if we never find out whether or not the bird said Hurley would it really impact the show? The same goes for Adam and Eve. At this point they are just 2 dead people. Its fun to speculate but it has no bearing on the storyline up until this point.

The writers are constantly putting things into the story line to throw us off there trail, its called a Red Herring. The constant mentions or implications that they are in purgatory is a good example even though the producers have said over and over that it is not.

never said that i think it's part of the main story, just that it wouldn't surprise me if they went back to it and tied it into everything somehow

i think there's a difference between the adam and eve/purgatory theories and this though because the former are things that were solely created through speclation of the fans while the latter was brought to the attention of the viewers through hurley questioning whether or not it said anything.......rathar, it was actually mentioned in the show while the other two weren't (or at least not to my knowledge).

Whoa whoa whoa. Hurley bird = not that big of a deal. No need to get yourself worked up RN.

Anyway, the cork thing makes sense and it did answer some questions. Good stuff, always like to see Riccardus in the story line.

My question is, is Jacob really freaking dead at this point? If he is, isn't Flocke free now?

Thats exactly my point.

Anyway, I think Jacob is really dead but the thing you have to remember is that he said the island is the cork, not him. Jacob is not keeping MIB there, the island is, Jacob is just watching over things. Have we really seen him do anything to keep MIB in check? Jacob knew he was going to be killed and didn't do anything to stop it. It almost looks like he is letting MIB think he has the upper hand while the reality is that Jacob is just as powerful dead as he was alive.

I'm also not sold on the idea of MIB really wanting to leave. Something tells me that he has a different motive.

decent episode tonight. getting a little tired of the parallel universe stories, though. i've gotten to the point where i wish they would just devote the whole 45 minutes to the "on-island" storyline.

I am losing patience with this season....So tired of the other time-line, Its just a stall tactic.

Really hated last nights episode. There is no way they tie up all the lose ends out there in six episodes. Brace for disappointment my fellow Losties.

Anyone notice than while Sun looked at her reflection in the mirror that Jin did not?

Some of the Actors are starting to make comments about the final episode. Using terms like "mind blowing" and highly contemplative. Also stating that fans will not be disappointed.

You don't know that. I dabble is spoilers here and there and I do know that a lot of questions get answered in one episode before the finale. Besides did you now see last weeks episode? It had a lot of answers and was one of the best episodes in a long time.

I don't understand the idea of people complaining about this season. You can't just write a tv show around revealing answers. You have to move the story along while doing so. Did really expect to have a big reveal every episode? How boring would that be? It's always been a character driven show, don't forget that.

Also, there are 8 hours left of this season

i really wouldn't be surprised if the alternate time lime ends up being what actually happens to the characters when it's all said and done. i'm really hoping it doesn't come to that though.
