The "official" Lost thread

They "explained" thos things only to the extent of a magic hole in the ground filled with light. A circular explanation at best. Meaningless.

We know how the smoke monster came to be. For every answer you get about the island, you would have just wanted more.

Maybe they will explain some things in the Directors Cut of the BluRay edition.

I for one kind of like not knowing all the mysteries. Such is life!

Yes, and the light was put there by aliens over 7 billion years ago.

Look, if the writers aren't capable of coming up with a satisfying explanation for the magic light (or any number of other mysteries) then they shouldn't use such ploys at all. Now it just looks like a big marketing ploy to advertise the latest soap opera. A big bait and switch imo.

Loved the episode! Sometimes we forget that it was simply a story, and some of the things in the show (the island, the light, smoke monsters, etc) were there to help move the story along and make it interesting, which it did.

If the island and it's mysteries is what you drew you in, you really missed out on a great story and spectacular character development.

Heck, I dunno. No Jack. No Juliet. They loved each other somewhat and have nothing back in the real world besides each other. Why not haha?

I think it was implied that Kate went back and helped Claire with Aaron.....on a side note, I'm still totally confused about the flash sideways thing. sure, it was purgatory, but why does Jack need to have a "fake son" in purgatory? And how do people get shot and killed in purgatory? Does each character sort of experience his own personal purgatory or is purgatory one place that everyone is in together?

I'm not sure. Christian said they created it so they could find each other. Remember, Eloise Hawking obviously knew what it was and wasn't ready for her or her son to go. My guess is he meant the situation in which they could all meet, being the flight.

one thing that I do regret is how much faith I put in the other timeline. during the finale, i was thinking the whole time that the timelines were gonna merge somehow and everyone was gonna live no matter what. thus, i didn't take the Jack and Kate last kiss or Jack knowing he's gonna die to save the island too serious at the time because, like I said, everyone was still gonna live in my mind.

it didn't make the emotional impact it woulda made had I known what the alternate timeline was before hand. i am gonna re-watch it tomorrow and hope the emotion in these scenes hits home now that I know those scenes were for real.

If you thought the writers & producers were going to spell out every detail, then I have no idea what show you have been watching the past 6 years.
