Very intriguing. It would surprise a lot of people. Not an Orlando fan myself, but like watching Dwight play. I don't think he's as dominant as some of the great centers ever... but still a freak.

He's not the most dominant, but as a whole, the league is weak at the center position. Bynum may be the second best center in the league right now, but Howard is way better than Bynum is.

He just turned 26 on December 8th though. He has plenty of time left to destroy stuff. Plus, he's really durable. The guy doesn't miss games. At least not yet anyways. 82, 82, 82, 82, 79, 82, 78... He deserves well over whatever Paul nets and what Utah/Denver got imo

Bynum is not the second best center. Plenty of PFs playing out of position and other centers I'd rather have. Especially after his 3rd grade girl mad someone stole her juicebox act in the playoffs.

And Howard is by FAR the best Center in the league, I just meant I don't think he's on the "unstoppable/with the greats" level. Not knocking him.

I'm not sure I agree with that and Bynum has injury problems. If it were me, I'd take Lopez over Bynum without question at this point. I wouldn't trust Bynum's knees. Plus, I'd rather have the Nets picks in your scenario. Howard/Williams should offer better picks than Howard/Gasol/Kobe.

That was my point. It's pretty sad that Bynum may be the second best true center in the league. The gap between Howard and everyone else is huge. That's why his value is so high right now.

The Nets may need to get Howard just to satisfy Williams to sign an extension. If they don't get Dwight, they'll make a heavy push for Nene.

Then again, a lot of what I've read has turned out to be b.s.

According to a report from ESPN tonight, the Los Angeles Lakers have pulled out of trade talks that would have attempted to restructure the original trade vetoed by the NBA that would have sent Chris Paul to the Lakers, Pau Gasol to the Houston Rockets, and Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic, and the New York Knicks' 2012 first round pick to New Orleans Hornets.

Maybe it makes too much sense and Lakers fans wouldn't like it but why not just cut the Hornets and make the same trade?

Personally, I don't know why the Rockets were giving up so much for Gasol but I'd take that deal and run if I were the Lakers.

Mitch Kupchak is always pursuing big moves. Question is, will the league allow him to do anything. The Paul deal was actually a great deal for everyone, other than the fact that the Lakers would have cleared 40 mil in cap space. Good for Lakers, not for everyone else.

Josh McRoberts is being pursued by the Grizzlies, but appears more likely to take more money and a bigger role with the Lakers.

McRoberts has been mentioned in trade rumors with Memphis involving O.J. Mayo. The Grizzlies told Mayo on Tuesday that he will not be dealt.

Looks like some of the Memphis fans will be happy. I still hope the Pacers re-sign him and keep if they can't trade him. The Lakers could definitely use him though given their current lack of big men.

McRoberts put up 12 and 9 per 36 minutes* 2 years in a row and shoots a very high %. Pacers let him rot on the bench. I'd like to see what he can do with more burn.

McRoberts is a poor man's Lamar Odom. He's an awkward, versatile, lefty that has rare features for his size. That said, I hope the Lakers keep that money and go after a proven player.

How much would it cost to get McRoberts if he doesn't even play much for a crappy team? He is a poor man's Odom, but he's young, and you can probably lock him for cheap for the next 5 years.

Crappy team? They led the Bulls like 90% of the series. Bulls were down just about the entire game throughout the whole series only to be bailed out by the refs at the end of the game. Pacers basically outplayed them but they didn't get the phantom foul Derrick Rose treatment.

Tyler Hansbrough was better than McRoberts when he was fully healthy. He missed a lot of time because of an inner ear infection.

Plus, that statistic is worthless in my book. Just because he was on pace to do that over the course of 36 minutes doesn't mean he would have. Case Keenum was well on pace to break the passer rating record after like 10 games. 3 games later and he was well below it. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. What your stats don't show is that he is a major liability on defense. I like him and would gladly have re-signed him but there is a reason why he wasn't playing 36 minutes per game. He's a higher energy guy that will give you a boost off the bench. If he's playing 36 minutes, a number of starting power forwards around the league are going to light him up for 25 a game.

Sorry, not crappy, but they finished in the bottom half of the league.

The Case Keenum example is irrelevant in comparison with hoops. If they increase his minutes, his stats will likely hold true. The cases in which increasing minutes decreases the rate of productivity are reserved to outliers like Shaq (he can't physically play more than 15 good minutes).

In 2010 McRoberts averaged (per 36) 12.3 pp, 8.7 rp, 3.0 ap, 1.2 sp, 1.1 bp, but he only averaged 12.5 mpg.

In 2011 McRoberts averaged (per 36) 12.0 pp, 8.6 rp, 3.4 ap, 1.1 sp, 1.3 bp, but he averaged 22.2 mpg.

So he nearly doubled his minutes and his average per 36 held true.
