The Official Lakers Thread

This series was probably the most bizarre thing i have ever seen. Nobody could have predicted this. is this the end for the lakers?

Nah they'll make waves in the offseason. They need to get some more offense, couple shooters.

I look for the Lakers to make a lot of trades this offseason. Lot of guys locked into long term deals, but they're all moveable. Kobe is the only one who ain't going anywhere.

Yep I look for them to get rid of Odom and Bynum, possibly Artest. Lakers fans will want to get rid of Gasol after the series he had but I dont know if they will pull the trugger on that one. They need some youth and 3 pt shooting.

It's over for the Lakers.

Unless they get Howard, Or a Player of that caliber, they are done.

I think you are right. Outside of the Mavs and the Celtics the rest of the teams left are young. And since they never draft early they have got to make trades to get better. They really need to upgrade at the point and probably the 3 too. I like Fisher but he has become a liability. And Artest just doesn't produce enough offensively.

Liked Phil with MJ in Chicago. Not the way for his last game to end. Liked seeing the Lakers getting their butts kicked while administering cheap shots. One down and some more Heat defeats to go.

No PG play, declining Bryant, no defense, Gasol back on Estrogen and Bynum missing games. Sounds like the disaster that the regular season predicted.

The Lakers ain't what they were in '09 but they aren't necessarily done. The Lakers are good because between Bynum, Kobe, Pau, and Odom, 3 of the 4 will usually have a good game, thus they win a lot. In this short 4-game series they couldn't get more than 1 or 2 of them to play well in a game. Thus they are done. Basketball is a game of averages and their stars just happened to miss their averages at the same time.

Reactionaries (like Magic) are morons for wanting to blow this team up. They could win it all next year. Magic says they've been together too long? Half the roster is new in the last 2 years. The big 3 have been together just over 4 years. Too long?!

I'll disagree. Here's how I see it.

Kobe at times is a one man show. Regardless if its by choice or necessity, but its the truth. Thats great if you're Kevin Durant's age, but if you've played as many games as Kobe has, and suffered as many injuries as he has, your body is gonna get worn out eventually.

So now the question is, who do they have to help him?

Lamar Kardashian - I think he brings very little when he does show up, and when he doesn't, is nothing more than a mouth breathing liability on defense.

Bynum - I, like most folks I would assume, think he's immature, inconsistent, and simply will not put forth the extra effort.

Pau - I think he's weak as water and plays some Euroball finesse on offense that looks pretty against teams that have exceptionally craptastic big men, but when the grown folks are out there, it looks like what it is. Ineffective garbage.

Fish - He's old. I mean, the dude is old. Period. You can be old and play post. Guard, not so much.

Out of the bench players, I cant name you a guy that contributes enough to get mentioned.

Its not that they've "been together too long". That should translate as, "They're effn old and we they need some younger players to develop more." Maybe they'll go buy some young guys. Maybe they'll get Howard outta Orlando. Maybe there will be someone to step up and help out down low, but they had better find a guard or two quickly.

Otherwise, without the Zen douche, get ready to enjoy seeing the Staples Center half empty in February. They wont be worth watching.

Lastly I'll add this.

The NBA pretty much sucks in general, but seeing a group of pretentious asshats like Phil, Pau, that criminal from Queen's Bridge, and Kobe get the brooms brought out on was must see tv.

Laker fan can go burn a couch.

Happened to see the fouls in the 4th as they had it on a screen directly in front of where I was sitting while waiting on a to go order. I quit watching NBA basketball around 1990. After yesterday, I remembered why I quit watching.

Even magic johnson said he was embarrassed. Bynum taking a guy 1/3 his size is the biggest punk move I've seen in a while.

Bynum got five games at the start of next season. Here's the kicker: It wasn't for his flagrant (2) on Barea, it was for taking his jersey off before he left the court.

Copied and pasted from an ESPN message board:

So more and more of the story is coming out of the fighting in the laker lockerroom. Pau hasn't talked to Kobe in a month. Turns out pau has a wandering eye and kobe's wife talked to Pau's girlfriend and convinced her that maybe she should confront him on it or move on. She moved on. Pau blames kobe's wife and kobe.

Pau isn't talking to kobe. Shunning him. Not only that but pau is supposedly all butt hurt over his chick leaving him.

Check out his numbers for the post season, clearly he's distracted.
