If some of the other clowns would read the post and see that I stated that "IF IT PLAYS OUT THE WRONG WAY." We and I mean none of us have a sweet clue about what all the investigation entails it could be nothing more than house keeping or something more. The fact that IF it went a wrong way it COULD be worse than where we are now.

First, CJP is the Coach!
Second, CPF has no desire to change that, and the "Big Boosters" we all speak of in dark hidden places, but no one will name, arent beating down the BOT and Presidents door to get CJP removed. Growling yes, demanding, NO.
Third the Pres , BOT and Chancellor all Hired CPF and arent going to remove him 36 months later!

NOW, HERE IS THE BIGGIE!!

If the internal investigation turns up SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF WRONGDOING, (SUBSTANTIAL=A BUNCH) and CJP was released because of it,
NO HEAD COACH or A LIST ASSISTANT WOULD COME WITHIN MILES OF KNOXVILLE knowing NCAA Sanctions could be forthcoming.

Name One that worked well for,

Kiffin, Shula, O'Brien, Luke, NOPE X 4.. Alumni and Boosters and Fans quickly grew tired of the NCAA Sanctions excuse and fired them all.. And They are all Good Coaches.

Bama had all kinds of crap going on for 10 years with NCAA, and were in trouble. Plus the coaching carousel there for 10 years.

Then they found Saban.


So the goal is STILL to find the guy.
And if you know it's not Pruitt (which we ALL do know). Then you cut bait.

Then Pruitt should be immediately fired...not only are we playing horribly but he cheated to get this bad!!!!!

Have not made my mind up about Fulmer...I doubt he is doing well on this site!

Alabama had 6 mos to go on NCAA probation just b4 Saban was hired, UA petitioned the NCAA to reduce the penalties and NCAA agreed and ended probation.. Saban had a clean field to go recruit.. Mike Shula guided the ship after Mike DuBose got Bama placed on probation.. Bamas team was gutted.. Alumni and Boosters didnt care and wanted Shula fired starting in year 2 and he literally was trying to coach with 1 hand behind his back.. Shula is/was a damn good football coach

You are going to be in for a rude awakening I'm afraid. This guy is toast - gone - done. CPF has as much say so as I do on what's going to happen with Pruitt. There's a good chance he don't survive this himself. But they'll let Fulmer go out with dignity and say, "well I was just an interim AD and gosh darn it I just miss my grandkids so much and want to slow down a little and enjoy my life and family." If he remains - it'll be as a figurehead only. He already has nothing to do with the Basket-Vols and Boyd is the one who was able to keep Barnes in town. Fulmer was letting him head on out to UCLA.

And if it turns out that this guy was cheating to the level of getting major NCAA violations and he still fielded this bad of a team - wow.

I believe they are trying to get enough evidence to fire him for cause and not pay him anything. But if they have quite a bit to work with there's also a chance they are letting him twist in the wind, get madder and more paranoid, and try to proverbially "smoke him out." Smoke him to the point he'll come to the table and be happy, ecstatic even, to get out of here with maybe 3-4 million and sign a NDA where he won't badmouth UT and UT won't badmouth him.

You can believe what you want - and that's fine - I just have heard enough to believe that there's absolutely no way this guy is coming back. Because as incompetent as our administration has been in the past even I can't see them being so stupid to allow him to come back after all of this. That would be like going out and breaking both of his arms and legs, beating him until his eyes are swollen shut, then telling him to jump in the Octagon against Brock Lesnar. The current administration at UT isn't that stupid.

Honestly the 3-7 this year with an SEC schedule tells you exactly where we are in this conference.

We lose the SC game without HT interception return for a TD. Missouri and Vanderbilt are just plain bad.

And saying we get wins with 3 "cupcakes" on the schedule is not a proven fact with this head coach. Just look at Ga. State and BYU.

Covid is not a viable excuse because every team dealt with it, and many found ways to win in spite of it. If UT was the only one dealing with the pandemic, then you would have an arguement.

info is becoming much stronger that Pruitt's days are numbered at TN. Let's hope they are already interviewing new coaches and this can be a quick transition without too much craziness or a buffalo guy breaking into Neyland

I can think of one who certainly would. If Pruitt has been found to have violations and a solid reason to fire him for cause, I offer his head to the NCAA and clean house. I also ask for some minor self imposed sanctions to complete our "punishment". If they accept, I go after guys like Napier and Fickell. If the NCAA comes for blood, I'll still try to grab one of those and if they say no, I'll turn to Freeze and hire him on the spot. If the NCAA wants to beat us like a rented mule because we're not bama or one of the other blue bloods, I'll act like a rented mule and kick back with Freeze. Hell, at that point, what else can they do to us for hiring him? At least the man wants to be here and can do great things with lesser rosters. We'll sure as hell be a lot more competitive on Saturdays and at least have some semblance of hope for the future. Right now UT has a lot of really solid options. If the rumors are true that Mullen is open to the NFL, UT sure as hell better have their guy locked up before he makes that move. If they screw around and wait too long, we'll be left waiting behind UF for the guy we want most....again. UT needs to chit or get the hell off the pot on this. Gone on way too long already. By now they've certainly got the info they need on the violations. I think they're trying to make Pruitt blink first and agree to the negotiated buyout instead of firing him with cause and battling him in court. As I just mentioned, that's problematic. Time is up. We need closure one way or the other and we need it now.

We've seen how the decision makers at UT have performed and the product they've put on the field. With that rather large body of work/evidence to go on, I'd have no problems handing the keys to the kingdom to Napier and giving him carte blanche. Something tells me he'd do a helluva lot better than 3 wins.
