The "Official" Jeff Brohm Thread

Purdue won 8 games total in the 4 years prior to Brohm's arrival.

They've won 6 games this year, with a bowl game ahead.

30-10 at WKU as well, although he followed Petrino there.

All that said, there is no way we're getting him. I think it would take a miracle.

Wouldn't have said that before all this noise but if we pull him AFTER what went down yesterday, that would be pretty remarkable.

Never understood the lack of enthusiasm on the guy.

Petrino without the baggage sounds about right.

Shouldn't have been the top target but, given where this thing has landed, he probably should be now.

I think there is something about anything having to do with Purdue that creates an effect similar to Xanax. People become bored and disinterested the moment they start thinking of Purdue football, and as a result they let the program name kind of mask the accomplishments of the individual. I think that's why many don't realize what an accomplishment getting to 6 wins in his first year at Purdue is.

They're as bad as Kansas before Brohm.

He would be acceptable as a hire. Solid B
At this stage, doesn’t look like any A rated coaches will be coming

For me the best selling point is his Offenses- which is our greatest weakness. He should be able to make a star out of Dormady or JG and even an incoming freshman

He’s got some experience so it won’t be his first rodeo. He hasn’t exactly just fallen into jobs that someone else built up (as Butch followed Brian Kelly). So we can hope it’s not as a big a learning curve as the last two flops

Maybe he can salvage Shoop as DC or go get Steele from Auburn to run the defense

At this point, I hope Brohm is our guy. At the very least, our offense is going to be fun to watch. With all due respect to Tee Martin, he's just not ready yet. USC fans wanted him gone not too long ago. There's a reason the only team I have heard of pursuing him is Georgia Southern. If he wants to come here as an OC I'm all for it, but I think we need to pump the brake's on giving this guy (Tee) the keys to the kingdom right now.

The bolded part is spot on. Sadly, we're just not a place that a high profile coach is going to come - Up and comer U until the regime is revamped.

As an aside, is the "big, explosive, and expensive" comment a direct quote from Currie?

Currie allegedly told a booster that the next hire would be, and I quote, "big, explosive, and expensive."

I never saw it attributed to him on the record, but nothing he apparently does is on the record, so who cares. We believe anything we read on the internet anymore, so I choose to believe he said it because it is stupid and untrue, which seems to fit his MO.

But seriously, thanks for the background.

Good offensive mind that could do a lot with little. Need a good DC to help. Negatives are he may not leave Purdue after one year and may think about Louisville when Petrino leaves. No question about his character. Stand up guy. The whole family. My sources? I'm from Louisville. Would be a decent hire IMO

Brohm is a smart coach that has an offense that would excite people. He would do well here with our resources. Getting Purdue to a bowl game in his first season is no small task, especially with their recent history.

DId anyone know that Saban wanted Brohm as his OC? Wow. This is from a SDS article.

Why might Tennessee want Brohm to run its program?

Well, he was highly regarded enough 10 years ago to get a job offer from a guy named Nick Saban, who was starting a rebuilding job of his own at Alabama and looking for an offensive coordinator. Brohm respectively turned down the offer and remained at his alma mater Louisville in the same capacity, working under Steve Kragthorpe — who replaced Petrino when he left to become the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

I'm afraid that he was very get-able and should have been on the short list. Now this disaster Currie created may prevent him from coming here

At this point I don't care if we overpay for him. Throw enough money to get him here....

Anyone who thinks there is even a remote chance we come out of all this with Mike Gundy needs to have their head checked.

But yeah, Schiano being ahead of Gundy on our list would be staggering. Par for the course, and yet still staggering.

Haslam, man.
