The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

Based on one game? His second game left a lot to be desired. Every throw was low or behind his receiver, or into too tight a spot (the first INT).

Based on 2 games. After the pick 6 he had 3 inc passes, 1 was a spike and 1 was a pass that hit TY Hilton right in the numbers that he bobbled and got picked. Every throw? He didn't have a QB rating of 7 and he was playing a quality D

He should have caught it, but it was a bad throw.

Was not a bad throw, when a receiver has it in both hands thats a catch that has to be made. For you to understand a bad pass I would go look at your starter from Friday night when he sailed it over your receivers head.

Locker has proven to be an NFL caliber QB in plenty of regular season games. Luck has had one great game, and one pretty bad game. Both preseason, and partly against second string defenses.

I distinctly said he should have caught it. It was still a bad throw. He had several bad throws last night.

I'll just leave it at that. I know it was a bad throw. I'm sure you recognize it was a bad throw. I've never known you to admit anything unfavorable about your beloved colts, so there's no point discussing anything with you.

Locker has proved nothing, except that he can have a QB rating of 7. Luck started out bad last night but he finished strong, you are the only person on the planet calling his game last night a "pretty bad one".

Andrew Luck didn't have the prettiest numbers in the Indianapolis Colts' 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, but there's mounting evidence the No. 1 overall pick will be an immediate contributor in his rookie season

It was a bad play -- your classic rookie mistake -- but Luck never lost his composure. He could be seen on the sideline telling offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, "I (messed) up." He put his helmet back on, then led the Colts to two touchdowns and a field goal in his last four series. He might have scored on all four drives if not for an ugly case of butterfingers by wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.

This guy's the real deal.

I think he was referring to last regular season's games Locker played in, which do warrant some more merit than preseason games but - at the same time - even then he might be putting too much weight on them

Jake Locker Game By Game Stats and Performance - Tennessee Titans - ESPN

While he did get his team close in games they seemed already out of it, there were still some "playing the position, learning curve" (conceptual doesn't seem right) mistakes...one sticking out being taking a sack on last play of the game near the goal vs NO (ran around to get open and bought time but held it too long/never chose/tried a target) (also might have thrown it too high/out of bounds on the last play of the Colts/Titans game)

That all aside, I'm kind of surprised anyone's (both sides) choosing right now to passionately compare/argue careers these two quarterbacks...Luck's a rookie, Locker hasn't even been a starter yet (and honestly, probably needs another year learning first), and neither really have much (or any) regular season experience...just kind of silly for both of you really

I know he was meaning his regular season play from last year. But to say he has proven he is an NFL caliber QB is laughable.

I am not ready to say Luck has done anything. But he has had a really good 2 games, he has came in and been way better than I expected. He is going to have some bad moments, had 1 last night but the way he bounced back and learned from that was great. I was so excited he got to play the Steelers because before last night I can almost bet he has never saw a 3-4 D.

Luck has been of the field for 10 possessions, they scored on 5 of them.

He had more than 1 bad moment last night. He looked consistently bad until the 2nd string D came in.

His throws were pretty inaccurate at times, but you'll never admit that.

Also, I'm not the one that brought Locker into this. In his typical grade school fashion, vfj tried to deflect criticism of Luck by pointing to Locker's bad game.

...kind of the bigger point was that you two arguing/comparing over these two at this point in their careers, at this point in the pre-season is silly...:ermm:

(Post started at 1:49/1:50, anything posted after wasn't seen beforehand)

Read again. The point was never to compare the two. The point was trying to point out to vfj that Luck shouldn't be crowned the savior yet. He had a pretty bad game last night.

Then, VFJ, in his usual form, unable to handle criticism of his team, deflected to Locker.

Clueless homer as usual. I guess you failed to read the response I posted by NFL.com. You are the only person alive saying he had a bad game. Throwing the ball away is not a bad decision, he missed on 1 throw and he paid for it. No one has ever questioned his accuracy so by saying he was inaccurate and saying he looked consistently bad shows your fear of this guy.

Being critical is fine, but to say he had a bad game shows how much you don't understand football.

You didn't watch his throws, I guess. They all hit the receiver, but were consistently behind them and low.

LOL at YOU of all people calling someone a homer.

Neither one of your quotes said he had a good game. They said, despite his shortcomings, they could tell he was the real deal. I would tend to agree with that. But saying that he was accurate last night is a long shot.

It's so annoying arguing with a homer as dumb as yourself. That's why I've tried to stay out of this dump of a thread.

You immediately turn to personal attacks and try to go on the offensive criticizing other people's teams. You cannot take criticism of your beloved colts. You're unbearable to talk to.

Oh I can take it. But when you come in here trying to tell me he had a bad game when the clear evidence is he did not is what I can't take. Did he play perfect? No. Did he play good for a guy in his second start and playing against the best D in the league, yes.

The evidence is not on your side

Luck leads rally but Colts fall to Steelers 26-24 - Yahoo! Sports

Luck had it going on Indianapolis' next possession before being undone by a turnover. He found rookie wide receiver T.Y. Hilton in stride down the middle only to have the wide-open Hilton throw the ball up in the air. Pittsburgh's Cortez Allen ran underneath it to thwart the drive, but it hardly slowed the Colts.

Luck got one more chance just before the half, and he made it count. Working exclusively out of the shotgun, Luck led the Colts 31 yards in five plays, giving Adam Vinatieri just enough time - and room - to sneak a kick between the uprights at the halftime gun.

Luck bounced back with a sublime quarter in which he refused to get rattled against the defense that finished No. 1 in the league last fall.

Using his mobility to step away from pressure and his vision to find open receivers, Luck didn't look like a guy who won't make his first NFL regular-season start for another three weeks
