The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

I think with the Colts 0-7 start you can now see how great Peyton Manning really is. The Colts averaged over 10 wins a season when Manning quarterbacked them including last year. Last year the Colts had all kinds of injuries except for Manning and won 10 games. Now except for Manning the Colts are healthy. Amazing what a difference Manning makes. I remember when Tom Brady missed the whole season a few years ago the Patriots still won 10-11 games. When I hear people talk about how much better Brady is than Manning just bring up these facts.

Polian said today Caldwell was in good shape. May just be BSing

Polian deserves to be fired just as much as Caldwell. Our drafting has been horrendous for as long as I can remember. The last good first rounder we got was Addai, and although he is a perfect fit for the colts, he definitely wasn't a first rounder. Jerry Hughes is thirdstring on the depth chart now, with Brown, and Gonzo just as bad. Its pathetic how the team has been run.

I agree that Polian needs to go. Every other teams uses free agency to get better, yet he goes and tries to get better by drafting rookies.

DEAD ON SIR :good!: :eek:k: :salute:

FIRE Caldwell - he was a loser at Wake Forest and is a BIG loser w/o Peyton. Dump him and get a real coach - maybe a few more playoff appearances in the Cards. Get Fisher now while they can.

12 games... with Matt Cassel...

Jeff Fisher is the most overrated coach in the NFL. That would be a terrible hire. He coached the Titans for over a decade and only led them to a super bowl once. That also includes losing records and mediocre seasons.

And 5+ game losing streaks for something like 7 seasons in a row...

Who has the inside shot at the first draft pick-hopefully Andrew Luck- Colts or Dolphins? Colts new a new QB NOW! If they don't draft a QB in the first round they had better either go running back or defense. If Colts don't get a QB by second round they might as well go after a young QB from a good team and one that is a good back up. Not even sure who that is right now.

The phins will get luck, but Indy can pretty much draft the 2nd best player whoever it might be and improve.

I agree with the rest of your statement but you are wrong here, they are not healthy. Brackett and Bullitt are out for year, Addai will likely miss time, Tammie is hurt, our top 2 draft picks this year both on the oline are injured. Foster is also out for season.

Problem is, they took tackles in the first two rounds this year. And the next best player might be a DE, which is where their only good defensive players are.

I think it'd be good to trade down the pick if that is the case. Adding a Barron type at safety would be good, and they need somebody who can give us more at DT. One more OL wouldn't hurt either. If they are healthy with those parts added, they could be pretty good defensively, especially with the way Manning eats up clock.

My wife teaches in an Indianapolis school and Peyton Manning addressed the school yesterday. Students were allowed to ask him questions (but the principal screened the questions). Nothing earth shattering but here are some of the things he said:

1. It is difficult for him to be on the sidelines now with the Colts struggling and him not being able to play. At first he didn't want to be there but his presence and encouragement is needed by the team.

2. His parents had a rule when he was growing up that he had to always be reading at least one book in addition to his regular homework. As a kid, he liked mysteries. He still reads at least one book at all times.

3. Focuses his charitable efforts on 3 cities, New Orleans, Knoxville, and Indianapolis.

4. One middle schooler asked what he remembered about middle school. At first he said it was all hazy to him now but then recalled that it was in middle school that he first asked a girl out. She said 'yes' but then 15 hrs later she said 'no' and he said it was the fastest romance of his life.

5. His favorite hobby is golf and he plays a lot with Dallas Clark and Jeff Saturday or his brothers.

My wife says he still moves pretty stiffly and its obvious he is still recuperating from his surgery.

Polian was on the radio and said they aren't dissapointed with Caldwell. He went on to say it isn't coach's fault when injuries occur(paraphrasing).

Polian could be playing it close to the vest but it doesn't sound like Caldwell will be canned at the end of the season.

What else is he supposed to say 7 weeks in? Pay no attention to what Polian says.

Hey I agree with you but it won't happen. It can't get any worse but if they fire him it won't be until after the season.

I know they won't until after the season. I just wish guys like Polian would reply with "no comment" as opposed to bold faced lies when asked questions like this.
