The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

How do you blow a 17-0 lead at home?

Maybe Peyton wants to play so that he can make sure they don't get Luck. If they win 4 of the last 6 or so, they probably don't get #1 pick.

You know, Luck is only a junior. What if he pulls a Peyton and decides to play out all his eligibility? It's not like he'll land a mega contract after the new CBA.

Something to think about if you're an advocate of the "Suck For Luck" strategy.

He's a senior.

No way he stays another year.

I think it's unlikely, as well. However, Jake Locker stayed for his SR year, Matt Leinart stayed, PM...It's not unprecedented. Plus, he won't get the mega contract like he would have in years prior.

Also, if the Colts have the 1st pick, the presence of PM wouldn't necessarily be attractive. Would Luck want to sit for 3-4 years behind PM? PM isn't going to give up playing because of Luck. OTOH, he could look at sitting behind the master as attractive, but if playing time is his priority, leaving school early wouldn't be as attractive to him.

There are a million what-ifs in play here. Luck has options, that's all I'm saying. He could opt to stay for his senior year or leave a year of eligibility on the table. Tanking shouldn't be an option for anyone, IMO.

Your "what ifs" are simply wishful thinking. The Colts are not tanking games, they are just terrible. No way Luck stays in school for another year.

Dang. You mad?

I didn't say they were tanking, I was referring to comments that have been made by you and others saying you'd rather them lose every game than go 5-11 or whatever. In fact, I don't think they're tanking. I knew they were a bad team without PM. Granted, I didn't think they'd blow a big lead to the Chiefs, but they've lost a lot of players to injury.

It's not wishful thinking, either. Just making conversation. Can we not have a civil conversation?

Kid was staying because he wants his degree; it'd be completely understandable (albeit less likely) if he stayed again if that's what it took to finish it

...the kid's from a rich enough family - if I recall - that he's going to be fine one way or another, whether playing football or not

Colts aren't tanking but Dallas Clark's performance this year makes it look like they are. Don't know what his problem is but if he doesn't get it figured out, he will be gone soon too.

Poor coaching evident on the last Colts possesion. 4th down and 11 around midfield with 2:30 remaining. Lets punt!! Right..... our defense sure has played well against the run. Then, when Caldwell is bailed out because Chiefs are offside, Gonzales doesn't even take his route out the necessary 6 yards for a first down. Even if he catches the ball, it doesn't matter. Comedy of errors.

I've always thought he was a bit overrated. Though he is talented and dangerous, it has seemed like he frequently has mental lapses where he drops easy ones.

And with further research...this article from near the end of the 2007 season states that Clark was in a tie for leading the league in drops....and that came in a year where he only made 58 receptions.

Frustrated with this team this year. I was just kind of taking a friendly jab because I have heard Titans and other fans saying "just our luck, Peyton goes down now they get to draft Luck".

And yes I did say I would rather go 0-16 than 5-11, I stand by that statement and while a game is going on I am pulling for them but when it's over and they lose I am not too mad because I am trying to look big picture.

Clark is a WR, when he has to play like a TE he struggles. With Peyton he gets to flank out and just catch passes.
