The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

He's a big end, something we could use.

Hopefully Anthony Coztonzo steps up.

I was being sarcastic about Hughes.

I agree on Costonzo. Also the other rook (Ilajana?). I saw someone projecting they would both be starting along with McClendon, Saturday, and Johnson. We need to make a big play now that Johnson is gone. There are some pretty decent tackles available.

Guess this means the rookie will be starting there, that's scary. Good thing they brought Addai back to help protect Peyton.

Could start off rough (which wouldn't dissapoint me :)), but I really loved the Colts draft. Drafting bookend tackles that could solidify the OL for 10 years is pretty smart, IMO.

They should've done this as soon as they figured out Tarik Glenn was done, though. They waited a little too long.

I am hoping that Houston changing to a 3-4 creates some confusion for them and they don't know exactly where to be.

They thought they done that when they traded up to get Tony Ugoh a few years ago but that turned out to be a big bust. I think this was their best draft in a long time, 2 big olineman, DT and a power running back.

Tony Ugoh

Castonzo finally signed, will be in Anderson today.

Also signed LB Ernie Sims, this guy will help and will play a good bit I think.

Definitely could've used Sims last year with the injuries to Session. Good pick up, and probably a great fit in our "speedy" system. I could see this reviving his career.

I stand corrected on Ugoh.

The Vikes just cut Bryant McKinnie. Wouldn't be surprised if the Colts considered him, but I actually think they're willing to roll with the rookies.

That's crazy. That's funny because the article on Johnson said that he would obviously be playing RT with McKinnie at LT. Seems like there's a list of about 5 solid names for FA OT's. I saw it yesterday, but no longer can find it. I recall that Alex Barron was one of them.

Jammal Brown (UFA) - Washington
Jared Gaither (UFA) - Baltimore
Matt Light (UFA) - New England

Notes from camp so far:

Drake Nevis was unblockable for a bit of practice yesterday
Hughes showed up in shape and was quicker, blew past Linkenback a few times. He worked with the second team defense. Keep our fingers crossed.
Castonzo lined up against Freeney and got schooled, would have loved to have seen that.

Who?

And good thing he'll never block Freeney in a game. What better DE to get schooled by? Maybe it's too much. Maybe Freeney broke Ugoh's spirit.

The first round pick, Anthony Castonzo

Thought was a good "welcome to the NFL"
Every DE Ugoh played against broke his spirit

He'll probably wind up the "steal" of the draft 5 years from now.
