Hollins is baffling at times. He goes zone vs. teams that can burn you like Golden State, but he refuses to vs. a team that is dominating you in the paint and the worst outside shooting team in the NBA. And then his lineup decisions with Pargo getting Tony Allen's minutes. Tony has been in his dog house ever since the Lakers game. Wake the hell up Lionel.

While I agree with what you're saying, leaving Kobe wide open for a tying 3 was not TA's best moment.

GRRRR Can we get a conference realignment up in hurr? I'm sick of never being able to watch the games, even when televised in Knoxville, cuz they start at damn 10:00 every night.

If acquiring Gilbert Arenas was such a great move, why didn't one single other NBA team think of it?

Because they didn't have Pargo as their backup PG? Not sure if you read the recent article talking about with Pargo in the game we avg. 85.1 pts per 100 possessions. To put that in perspective the worst NBA team in that regard is the Bobcats at 93 pts. per 100 possessions. Not only does he give us a more legit threat off the bench than Pargo but when Mayo goes cold like he can for stretches then he can slide in at the 2. Gives us a lot of options.

Or he's toast? A headcase? Dominates the ball when that's the last thing we need? Plays defense about as well as Rudy gay?

As cliche as "grit and grind" has become, it's what makes this team what it is. If you asked me to name a top 5 of of ungritty and nongrinding players I've ever watched, Gil makes the list.

I'd love to be wrong here, but I think the chances of this helping are highly unlikely.

Not every single player on a team is going to play great defense. He is coming off the bench to give us a spark for 10 minutes a game, or if he is hot maybe more. He realizes that if he fulfills his role, he will get a contract from someone next year. You are acting like he is going to play a majority of the game. If he only gets Pargo's minutes does it really matter if he dominates the ball.

BTW, I can see where you are coming from. This move is either going to be really good or really bad with no in-between. However, I think with a league minimum contract and just being asked to take the minutes from the worst PG to ever play in NBA it will be a good move.

My problem isn't with Arenas accepting his role..I know he won't. He's Gilbert Arenas. The factor in play here is Lionel Hollins. You are severely underestimating Lionel Hollins to throw a "WTF??" rotation out there.

You're right..8-10 min of Gilbert Arenas, what could possibly go wrong? However, Gilbert Arenas having one good game and cutting into OJ's minutes for the rest of the season and we've got major problems. This is Lionel "Sit down OJ" Hollins here.

How in the hell do you figure this? Arenas will play the point and OJ will play what he knows best and that is SG. It has been mentioned many times Arenas is coming in as the backup PG and it's gonna open OJ up. Arenas is coming in with a new attitude and accepting the bench role. If him and OJ both accept those roles and play them like they're capable of playing them, this team will be one nobody wants to play.

He has a legitimate point. Hollins is known for his moronic lineup at times, and in the past he has looked for anyway to cut into OJ's minutes (right now he is looking for some reason to cut into Tony Allen's minutes for some reason unbeknownst to anyone).

A) my better judgement tells me not even to respond to this, but oh well
B) it doesn't matter what arenas is said to be coming in to do, it ultimately lies with Lionel in how much he plays
C) it's apparent to literally everyone that OJ doesn't play as many minutes as he should until recently because Lionel had no other choice
D) how the he'll do I figure this? Better yet, how the hell do you even pretend to know what arenas has accepted and his mindset coming into this? Again, he's Gilbert Arenas. If he were willing to be a backup PG, the Lakers would have signed him last month. The Thunder would have signed him when Maynor got hurt months ago. The Heat would have signed him at any point this season.

Beat me to it. Agree with all of this. OJ and TA minutes are going down and that's not going to help.

Agreed.

I need the Grizzlies to work up some magic tonight. I lost my beagle of 13 years today ,and it's one of the worst days of my life. I'm hoping the Grizz can take my mind off it for 2 1/2 hours.

Just as a side note, this is how this board is meant to work. Opposing viewpoints that do not include talking down to someone, name calling, etc.... I think all of us see where each person is coming from, and we all have legitimate reasons to support our thinking. Why can't this occur on the football forum :)

Sorry about that man. I know when you have them that long it really like losing a family member.
