What's going on between them won't get better and could blow up at any moment.

You can tell just by watching them interact with each other. It's not gonna work.

I thought Durant said they do that all the time. Something like it helps push each other. He also said they're good friends.

You've never had friends you argue with? Back in the day my friends and I would cuss each other out all the time when we played basketball or video games(usually football). Sometimes that's just how it is when you're around each other all the time and are kind of like brothers.

I don't think you can say with certainty that they can't play together as you don't know them or their relationship. Kind of sounds like wishful thinking on your part since the Thunder appear to be on the rise and quite possibly the most talented team in the West.

Guess we'll have to see what happens but I'm not sure it's a big deal. Do you remember Peyton Manning freaking out and getting in Jeff Saturday's face? A teammate got in Peyton Manning's face and told him to shut the f up and sit down. They were pretty successful together and got along fine after the fact. S*** happens in the heat of the moment. Westbrook was probably just frustrated that he was having an awful game and he blew up. He just turned 23 a month ago so he's still young.

Did you ever play basketball at a competitive level? Sometimes teammates argue. It happens. Tom Ziller over at SB Nation said it best: "“The problem with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant is that everyone wants there to be a problem with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. We are a society bored without conflict. We demand drama, and not just of the competitive variety. We are a nation and world that loves to watch sports, but there’s no denying that we gravitate toward the operatic.".

Everybody just assumes it will happen. And unless they start losing a lot of games (doubtful) I really don't see anything coming from this "tension" between RW and KD.

I'll be honest.. After reading the first sentence I knew where you were going and didn't finish. Durant had said all the right things publicly. Westbrook doesn't comment. There will come a day when Durant is sick of saying all the right things.

As far as them being friends and "pushing each other" .. The thunder are a very young tight knit team. They hang together on the road, play video games in the room, tweet each other all the time, etc etc. Durant and Westbrook dont. I like the thunder..harden Durant ibaka maynor so on. I follow them. I attended all the playoff games last year and the game last night. You can tell by watching them pregame, in warmups, starting lineups, handshakes, every second there is a tension between them. It isn't going away and it isn't "pushing them." Durant is the best player and Westbrook wants to be the best player. Nothing more, nothing less. Westbrook isn't going to sacrifice his game for Durant or the betterment of the team.
When the grizzlies went on a run, Westbrook took three inexplicable shots on consecutive possessions. Late in the game..sitting on an 0fer..he kept shooting.

Haha yeah I played basketball at a competitive level an our team had a best player and a person who thought they were the best player. This isn't heat of the moment arguing. Russell Westbrook might have the biggest ego in history. He is jealous of Kevin Durant. In fact, his ego is so large I think it's fake. Westbrook might be that insecure. He's trying to compensate.

As far as your comments on society, the majority of society doesn't give a damn who Durant or wearying are. I guess the conflict between Kobe and shaq was only there because society wanted it to be.

Yes, it was a close game and it spawned from an in-game play that they were talking about during a time out. That is pretty much the definition of heat of the moment arguments.

I don't know you're qualifications of psychology or anything; but that's a pretty big diagnosis of Westbrook's ego/insecurities/jealousy from just watching two guys play basketball and following their twitter feeds.

So you're going on your experience to draw your conclusion of a RW/KD eventual demise, and I'm going off my experience to do the same but drawing a completely different conclusion of co-existing for the foreseeable future without any real problems other than those manufactured by the media.

Who's right? Who's wrong? We both are.

My comment on society was a quote. And obviously if someone was reading that quote from a sports article on a sports blog then the odds are they are a sports fan. Meaning they were referencing those in society that care about sports, in particular this storyline of RW/KD. Not just society as a whole. Although, to be honest, I also think he could have been referencing society as a whole but in regards to just conflict in general. Not just the supposed ongoing conflict between RW/KD.

And this is not at all like Kobe and Shaq. That's just a silly comparison all around.

Hm... disagree but oh well.

Like I said, the exact same thing happened with Manning, Saturday and another teammate. They went on to win the Super Bowl. The Durant/Westbrook thing really isn't a big deal. They went to the conference championship last year and are 3-0 to start the season this year.

By the way, how do you know Durant and Westbrook don't hang out? How do you know Westbrook is upset that he isn't the best player on the team? Because you went to a game and saw them shoot around? I'm sorry but your stating your opinion as fact like you know what goes on between them when in reality you have no clue. You can speculate but it's absurd to say "nothing more, nothing less" because that's how you view the situation.

If you can provide a link or show me proof that Durant and Westbrook don't hang out or that Westbrook is essentially jealous, I'll believe you but I'm not going to take you at your word. You say Durant won't say the right things forever, again, how do you know? You have nothing to back that up. Unless you know these guys personally or have read comments stating what you're claiming, you have no idea. I would just like to know where you're getting your info from because you're basically stating things as facts and I believe it's just your opinion.

Does anyone honestly thinks that Rondo wouldn't be better for the Thunder than RW? The assist numbers Rondo would average passing to Durant, Harden, Ibaka, etc would be insane. Rondo already got a ring playing on a team loaded with scorers around him where all he had to do was distribute and attack the rim. After watching him destroy the Knicks on Christmas Day with a depleted roster why wouldn't the Thunder rather have him than a shoot-first PG who kills the half-court O? And don't forget that Rondo's best friend on the Celtics was Perk. As a C's fan, I don't want Westbrook if it means giving up Rondo.

Not intending to sound like a smart alec because we've had differing opinions and discussed things civilly before, but I'm sorry I don't bookmark everything I read on the internet especially over the course of two years. Plus 99% of my posts are from my phone so I'll almost never have a link. That being said, just paying attention to the situation you can tell Durant is a good natured guy. He knows Westbrook I talented. He also knows he's the face of the franchise. No need to alienate anyone.

You can accept what ive read or not, I don't really care. As far as my observations of the two interacting, as well as interactions with the rest of their teammates, ye that is my opinion. This is a message board. You're in this thread to read my (and others) opinion and offer your own.

McRoberts and Rush are both playing well this season.

This. Their games don't mesh well. Guess anyone who thinks they do needs to go back and watch a few of their playoff games from last year when RW was hoisting up bad shot after bad shot.

Brian Skinner has been waived. Tillery hints at Haddadi's imminent return.

I never thought I'd be so happy ,but Marc needs relief soon or he'll get worn down over the season.

I didn't say the game was important, I said IN THE MOMENT IT IS HEATED. These are elite teams of competitors going against each other in a close game. Plus, one team is trying to avenge being put out of the playoffs by the other team last season. It gets heated. I do question your former experience playing competitive basketball if you don't understand that.

Get off your high horse and grow up. Drivel? Whatever.

@TBrown, nobody said that they didn't do this before. But they've had a disagreement maybe 3 or 4 times in several 100 possible games? Doesn't sound like a huge problem in my opinion.

As for back on topic, I hope Randolph lives up to his new contract and remains unselfish and I also hope Marc Gasol doesn't get any heavier now that he's been paid.
